Day/Night being tied to real-time is a terrible design choice because you potentially alienate players who simply can’t play during one time of day.  I’m frankly glad they’ve figured that out.

It didn’t do that in any meaningful way, though.  Unless a game’s core mechanics are geared towards a certain action, it doesn’t matter if you nicely ask the player to do it, it’s poorly designed.
