A SPOOKY GHOST!

It is a dumb derail. We started talking about the ACA and minimum wage hikes, but you want to talk about how many bills senators co-sponsored without a clear thesis that negotiation skills somehow relates to co-sponsoring bills.

I don’t see the word “odd” anywhere in my post.....

So...? The numbers don’t say much, and don’t say anything about how good each candidate is at “negotiating.” This is a dumb derail, and we were talking about the ACA and minimum wage.

Good point—we’re on the same page.

Can you tell me which blockbuster pieces of legislation Clinton was able to push through with her advanced negotiating skills?

Ok, but that doesn’t change the fact that this statement:

Ok, thanks I guess.

Demonstrably untrue; that came from the White House.

That’s fine, I’ve worked on/with several motions for a downward departure and seen them all granted. Since you’re the pedantic commenter, certainly you realize that “technically correct” is indeed the best kind of correct.

You’re entitled to your belief, but we don’t know because no one tried.

That’s a misunderstanding of the procedure at play in regards to the Oregon dummies—the federal sentencing guidelines have nothing to do with that.

Thanks much. I guess I’m a stupid millenial but I am absolutely tired of progressives that tell us to “just wait”—we’ve been “just waiting” for decades, watching the Democrats compromise directly into the Republicans’ hands over and over.

You are reading way too much into the statement. There is no mention of Clinton or any allusion to her campaign in his remarks.

Great comment. Please point out how it is relevant to the original post: “Federal sentencing guidelines have mandatory minimums of 15-20 years. The judge must by law respect those.”

No offense, but from the outside your argument is a straw man. Bernie was denying behavior in response to allegations of said behavior. How does “I do not believe that this is a position widely enough held that one can simply assume the listener agrees with it” even work into the conversation?

Exactly this. The “let’s be realistic” crowd are the same ones that took a public option off the table re: the ACA before negotiations even started, and then we ended up with RomneyCare.

You are incorrect. Federal sentencing guidelines are guidelines—they are not mandatory. They offer guidance as to what may be too lenient or too harsh (and in actuality provide trial judges cover to impose sentences, but that’s another issue entirely), but a judge is not required to sentence in accordance with the

So very true. Cheers!

Where is there even an analogy in his response? You’re reading an awful lot into a couple of sentences.
