it stuns me sometimes that people actually get RICHER when family members die. like, didn’t you just lose a worker? what magic is this?

When my father died and there was nothing to inherit -for anyone. Mom was a day to day substitute teacher. 10 years old.

Politics Thread! Has anyone started or tried to start a Resistance Group or Indivisibles group in their neighborhood? I have access to a neighborhood on-line bulletin board, but I’m unsure of how to begin. Do I invite people to my house? To meet at a coffee shop? Do I put up flyers?

A couple of months ago I asked for advice for grad school applications. You guys were so helpful. I just found out that I got into Columbia University!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to go so bad, but the cost is ridiculous. I am still waiting to see about financial aid and some scholarships. However, I am still so so excited!

It’s been eight fucking days of his presidency.

I work with it some on the business side and our immigration lawyer said that there is a strong likelihood of even that area being really clamped down on. It will be really tough to get people moved into the US.

It’s not their objective to make it “more difficult.” Their objective is to make it literally impossible.

A friend of my family from Ghana’s wife screwed up by misunderstanding the U.S. Consulate. She answered “no” to the question “have you ever been here before?” by which she thought they meant the building, not the consulate itself. It had changed buildings since the last time she went there.
