I had a M3 reservation since day 2 but cancelled it in June 2018 after driving an i3 and adding up all the incentives on a lease (basically paying the same as a $30k car, for an i3 with a $54k MSRP).
My family has a BEV and PHEV. No need for pure ICE’s. The PHEV works as EV 99% of the time.
I’m considering an electric, but only because I can switch out with my wife’s ICE in an emergency.
That's about the same range as my leased 2018 i3. In 1 yr and 10k miles I've had to abort 0 trips due to range. Daily commute is no more than 60 miles, if we have to drive further just take the Town and Country (which I hope to replace with a VW microvan ev in 2ish yrs)
I think the real story here is that someone managed to drift a Lincoln MKZ.
They never went back to anything, they just never moved past where Bangle left them.
The problem is they’ve been doing everything halfway for a while now. They pushed hard on electric then stopped at the i3 and i8. They pushed hard on luxury to keep up with Mercedes and end up with cars that are kind of fun to drive but not luxurious enough. They used to be the “nicer than the average car but way more…
You do realize that this is partially what gave them the lead in the first place, right?
I disagree with the big grilles. They actually look good in real and a strong “in your face” -status symbol- brand identity is what the majority of people buying these cars are looking for.
BMW took the lead in the Luxury market during the Bangle era, when everyone not buying their cars were complaining about the design direction.
Dear Honda,
$200k to spend and you’re asking for advice? He doesn’t have a pretty solid opinion of what he wants, or does he simply want to tell someone he has $200k to blow to gloat?
This one is easy. Cars are lasting longer, and more expensive to buy, so people buy less often. Unless you absolutely have to have the newest safety features, a 10 year old car is going to have the same features as a brand new car.
Wow! I had the same experience when I was the mailroom guy at Ferrari! They kept giving me free crapfests like F40s and F50s.
you are under arrest
We’re all acting like we’re bored but we will all cry when it will go out of production
They should have revealed it by having the engine ingest the cover through the intake and poop it out as confetti
Now if someone could please explain what the rest of the car was for?
Why are entirely new car platforms needed any more?
