Wrong. The higher trim levels in '78 had the square headlights, whereas the Custom trim was the one with the round lights. All of them had square headlights in '79.

A sedan has a B pillar. If it has a B pillar, its a two door sedan.

You're not crazy. They were just underpowered for the time and too expensive. Nobody was going to pay $50k for a 2 seater in 2002. In 2003 they got a power increase.

V6 NA with 5sp swap, SC roll bars, and Eibach progressive rate lowering springs. Its 200+ lbs lighter than an SC so it actually handles better. While there's times I'd like the blower, its hard to beat the handling, given the independent rear suspension and everything.

Now if they could produce an SVT Bronco

It has more torque and better chassis design. It out handled and E30, let alone an E24:

How about the BMW M6 fighter? Inspired by its styling as well as engineering. With its supercharged engine, independent rear suspension, and rear wheel drive, it was benchmarked against the outgoing M6. It beat it in every way.
