I have to respect that. Can you imagine if Kevin Hart approached the topic with that kind of clarity?

Aw that genuinely makes me sad. This dude is the only person I have ever thought sufficiently apologized for homophobic lyrics and stuff.

Sucks because there’s really only one performer the Juggalos would accept as Violent J’s replacement and Tony Bennett is retiring too.

That’s the thing. The Whisperers didn’t cover themselves with zombie guts.

The pseudoscience thing definitely bothers me. The slut-shaming seems like it was blown way out of proportion. I can’t access the full op-ed but it seems like she was describing that she wasn’t targeted for that kind of harassment and that may have been because she wasn’t conventionally attractive for Hollywood and

Has Ken Jennings ever actually implied that he’s interested in the full-time job? As far as I can tell, he’s living comfortably on book residuals with his childrens’ educations paid for and enjoying the PNW. Popping down to LA for a week to shoot a series of The Chase or whatever is one thing, but the permanent host

he lost his dad and two brothers in a plane crash when he was 10

To me, anti-vax is a wholesale dismissal of vaccine utility or fear of vaccine side effects combined with a proselytizing effort to get other people not to use vaccines. Under that definition, she’s not anti-vax. This is a recent quote from her “But I have never, not once, said that vaccines are not valuable, not

You jest, but people from Ireland are saying this is one of the safest, wealthiest spots in the country and it’s much more likely that he was just so drunk that he took a nasty fall and banged himself up pretty badly and was just too embarrassed to admit it (his hotel called the ambulance, not him).

Wasn’t it, in fact, the SECOND episode of the series where they pulled that move? And then conveniently forgot about it?

Didn't they work out by themselves within the first few episodes that covering themselves in fresh zombie entrails did the same thing? And yet they never did it again, apparently.

Good one. Tommy Lee Jones’s monologue at the end of No Country for Old Men was awesome too.

All the movie quotes listed here and in the comments all seem quite clever and fun but how many of those quotes are ingrained into popular culture to the point people say it without realizing what it’s from? Same with “Forget it Jake, it’s Chinatown.” The other thing is it’s just a great line in a great scene that

“I thought Christmas comes once a year."

Otto getting in one more exclamation of “ASSHOOOOLLLE!” as the plane takes off at the end of A Fish Called Wanda. Classic Otto.

Two immediately come to mind:

Ernest Hemingway once wrote, “The world is a fine place and worth fighting for.” I agree with the second part.

Never even seen School of Rock? That’s a fun crowd-pleasing comedy. But for more “typical” Linklater, then the Before trilogy is a must (Before Sunrise/Sunset/Midnight), as well as Dazed and Confused and Boyhood. But yeah, A Scanner Darkly is a lot better than Waking Life in my opinion...definitely worth checking out.

Are you sure Jones was in Dazed and Confused? I certainly don’t remember that. He was definitely in another Linklater film, Waking Life, though.

Yeah, Linklater clearly had a certain affection for Jones from back when he was just a harmless-seeming Art Bell-esque crank with a local radio show — he’s in Dazed and Confused as well. As you say, it aged weirdly.
