There’s a pretty broad gulf between finding someone distasteful and loudly, publicly hating them. The latter shouldn’t be done lightly.
People really piled on him for this. I saw it everywhere. I don’t understand that. For me, the story is very clearly indicative of his mother being a toxic figure in his life.
I regret to inform you that this is McDonald’s Philippines location :(
Yeah, really, I don’t get how anybody reads that as anything but bitter and pointlessly confrontational.
A lot of people (both on the left and right) complain about “security theater” in the wake of 9/11 — the way we have to take off our shoes, not pack water, not be able to go through security as a non-passenger to meet arriving friends and relatives at their gate or to keep them company before their plane leaves the…
Doesn’t work for baking. (Or sausage, but a lot more people bake.) And it’s tricky for pasta sauces. (Since they’re going onto one of the inherently blandest things in the pantry, a properly seasoned pasta sauce tastes overseasoned.)
Too many recipes say that without giving a starting point, leaving beginners to guess.
You could certainly be confused in fall of 2013. Bill Cosby’s fall from grace happened at the end of 2014 (prompted by a Hannibal Buress clip going viral, of all things). It’s a good apology. Mine would probably sound like:
I love how the article tries to insinuate that it was terrible that she took a week to respond to this manufactured controversy. Y’all ought to be ashamed of yourselves.
“But no one is steering the ship so it goes in some nasty directions some times.”
The way I see it... The right wing echo chamber has created a myth about “cancel culture” being some organized conspiracy all the liberal elites in the media and universities are engaged in. That’s what I think of when I hear “cancel culture doesn’t exist.” Because there’s no “conspiracy”, it’s a social trend.
