Ugh, fuck the Imitation Game. The only thing it was imitating was a 2001 Mirimax wankfest.

I think Big Hero 6 succeeded in character and production design where Lego Movie succeeded in writing, and I wouldn't be surprised if the people who vote for the Animated category are swayed more by the former than the latter.

I thought the Lego Movie was a good movie, but not an awards movie. It's just a Very Good Commercial Movie. The Dark Knight didn't get a Best Picture nod. (Although it might have if they nominated 10 awards back then.)

Also, JK Simmons or get the fuck out of my sight.

Boyhood for the win. It's not Linklater's best movie, but you can't deny that it's a huge achievement AND that Linklater is awesome.

I liked that movie better when it was called Star: Trek Into Darkness.

It's worth pointing out that Steven S. DeKnight was the creator of the excellent Spartacus series, which also started out with a dubious premise (a ripoff of 300 on semi-premium cable) and turned out to rise above its genre trappings. I'm cautiously optimistic.

That line was the only time I laughed out loud on the NYC subway system until the August Lindt episode.

According to Wikipedia, she's in the next season of True Detective. Sweet.
