They had a license to build them in India, the whole question is whether that transfers to the US. It’s like, different.

If someone made a track use only car that looked almost exactly like a ‘67 Mustang, but with a different grill, Ford would sue them into the stratosphere. I mean, come on. The question here is whether the original agreement is limited to India or not.

If it can stand on its own from a value standpoint, why make it look like a CJ at all? Mahindra knew this would happen and felt the need to continue with the CJ look.

The Roxor looks like a ... Jeep. Jeep states they have the rights to things that look like... Jeeps. It doesn’t matter if they currently build a CJ. If a company made a track use only, 1st gen Corvette styled vehicle, GM would sue the shit out of them.

“The facts are leaning on Mahindra’s side that they don’t need a license from FCA to build it.”

I agree they should work something out, I just also think Mahindra should have figured this out before going to market with a product that was going to cause issues with Jeep.

I’d like Mahindra to figure out something with Jeep to keep making these, but I do generally think they’re in the wrong here in how they approached this.

Well, that’s not a consumer product and they still worked around possible trademark issues with Jeep.

the fact that they did take pains to differentiate the Roxor’s “face””

Mahindra probably should have approached Jeep when they decided to build the Roxor in the US and paid the licensing.

I also know it’s not particularly special, but David seems to.

The base 911 weighs 3350 my man, and goes up from there. The Jag is a little heavier, but it’s also, you know, cheaper. It’s not shockingly fat. It’s not light either.

Oh good. He’ll take a rare “holy grail” (to him) car and drive it into dust.

A few of us.

CDOT is going back to a salt slurry when it gets really cold, and I am not excited. It’s still better than Michigan though.

“basic crash safety and insurance issues would require them to be illegal... right?”

800-1000 is a huge difference. That’s 20% more. The F Type isn’t light, but it’s only heavier than the 911 if you have the Supercharged V8, which, duh.

“And part of the problem is you have jackasses in the carpool lane refusing to go above the speed limit and also slow down to look at a collision that happened on the other side and other stupid shit.

You might be overreacting. Especially if this is happening during the day in a lane that generally doesn’t allow lane changes in and out.

Yeah, but then choose the option where they refill it after and charge you. Prepaying is the worst option.
