Visiting the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa (Which is very nice by the way) is quite the strange experience, as for the first half or so of the museum the United States is of course the primary antagonist. It's an interesting reversal in perspective.

That region of China is fascinating to me, with the mix of ethnic and geographic influences, but traveling there seems alternatively imposing and unpleasant by most accounts.

Of the two people I've known who've been to Urumqi, both were threatened during their time there by small mobs armed with nail covered clubs. Is that the Urumqi hello or what?
