This story has made the rounds... NEWS FLASH! when you put lines on the road, an car with a vision system that follows the lines will... follow the new lines!
If you watch the video you’ll see this is very carefully constructed. The “normal” lines end, then their stickers start. They effectively made a construction…
I like how this patent from Toyota has illustrations with a 90s Chevy S10.
IMHO this is not that different than grabbing your Franklin Planner and insurance details out of your wrecked car... If your tesla gets wrecked, when you go to grab your stuff, hit the factory reset button. It’s readily accessible in the menu.
What do you mean correct wiring to cut? There’s no wiring that has to be cut, except the 12v first responder loop which is under the hood or near the 12v battery.
The basic rule is: don’t cut the floor of the car.
As this article noted, HV cables and parts are bright orange. Cabling runs along the sills, or along the middle of the floor. It’s been this way since the Prius came out in the early 2000s.
We had a neon back in the day as a family car. It served us well. I’ll never forget going into the local Chrysler dealer, and seeing the posters on the wall, along with the Neon logo in... neon.
My only major beef with the neon is how flimsy the body is in a crash. A friend almost became a quadriplegic when he broke…
Only the first few years of the Volt had the button; but all the Gen 1 Volts and ELRs have the pedestrian horn. On the later cars (and ELR) you pull the stalk back, and you get a high beam flash and the horn pooter toot.
It actually uses the normal 2 car horns, but cycles back and forth between them quickly. I really…
Mercedes had the same replacement schedule, and then amended it to say the bags last the life of the car.
Go look on Copart at mid to late 80s Mercedes. The airbags still seem to be working today!
No sub in the trunk, no “immersive sound” speakers at the top of the A pillars or in the center of the dash. It probably means a 6 speaker stereo system, with no DSP functions.
The Apple Lisa used a 4 bit micro for it’s RTC, so only 4 bits to store the year. You can set the clock from 1980 to 1997.
19 years does seem like an odd choice. Storing the year as days doesn’t make sense either... it doesn’t fall on an even boundary.
“Is it the acceleration, handling, comfort, stereo, etc?”
Yes.
(The extreme responsiveness of the accelerator and steering are my “top hits”)
An IDI with healthy plugs, starter, and compression will start in the cold just fine. But you’ll be waiting a while for the plugs to warm up!
That’s if your car has an alternator fuse. Not all do, ‘specially older cars.
If you install a super crappy one, it could short out and cause a fire. I’ve read about this happening before... the diodes short out and it turns into a motor trying to turn the engine. Gets hot and catches fire.
But why row gears when gears only make the car slower, and less responsive?
The Country and Ralllye both use a viscous coupling for their AWD, like the B3 Passat. The Audi 4000 / 5000 have an open / lockable differential.
It depends on the model. On any modern Toyota / Lexus product the AC is electric, and the heat has electric assist.
Yup. I don’t miss having to wait for people to move their gasser so I could fill up.
What do you mean? AWD Teslas already have 2 motors. There’s no mechanical connection between the axles.
