In my more experienced car negotiating years, I have been able to beat X-plan (or similar plans from other companies) fairly regularly.

Where the X-plan is very handy is it gets you 85% of the best deal with basically 0 effort. Similar to TrueCar but with 1000% less loopholes for shitty dealers.
