I was never a big fan of Voyager, but I was always a big fan of Janeway. That character was the most consistent and internally logical character on that series. She didn’t always do the right thing but she always did what she felt was the right thing and I respected that in the character.

This is good news and totally makes sense, they setup this possibility in the first film with that footage on the TV in the background of the space mission launching. They have now done the work setting up the world they can now move it forward into the original films setting.

I took it as off grid, she’s clearly dealing with mental health issues and self medicating. The relative squalor was due to the fact she doesn’t trust Star Fleet and has essentially gone a bit perpper.
