All due respect, but Michael Ballaban, I’m sorry, your suggestion to drop thousands of dollars tuning his Versa is about the dumbest thing I’ve heard all week (and yes I know the State of the Union speech was this week).

1st - people aren’t going to run back to the Ford Fusion that gets 23 mpg from the Ford Edge that gets 22 mpg because gas prices go up

They also ignore the massive difference in the oil industry between 2007 and now. The US has plenty of shale oil, it just doesn’t make sense to get to it while Middle Eastern oil is so cheap. If they raise prices, we drill and the price stabilizes. It’ll go up some, but we won’t be putting $5/gal gas into 8mpg Ford…

Even in today’s money that’s a heck of a deal!
