They won’t close the engineering center - they’ve been doing a lot of work for autonomous vehicles and driver assistance systems there, thus have a good number of experienced engineers in these areas.
They go through the same process, using different CAD tools, but then they also are put on test stands until failure.

There was a pretty hot Galaxie in the sixties - the 7.0L had a 428ci engine and could be optioned with a four speed manual and they had both a coupe and convertible available. These were in 66 and 67 I believe.

Dyno’s can be used as an absorber (what you are thinking of) and a prime mover, i.e., driving the wheels or whatever else the dyno is used for.
