I am finding myself increasingly unconvinced by whines about violations of the first amendment. Lots of other countries which are perfectly lovely to live in seem to manage without this absolutist idea that any and every bullshit idea even those that endanger minorities, should be respected and allowed to spew.

Agreed 100%, I’ve always said that if Christians acted the way they were technically supposed to, which would be Christ like, then I wouldn’t have a problem with them because they’d probably be doing a lot of good in the world. As it currently stands, I have a huge problem with the vast majority of them.

Here we go. Police officers deserving of respect. Community policing is a good thing, not every interaction needs to escalate.

In fairness, I would say the GOP absolutely does hold to Christian values, just not the values Christians were originally supposed to have. Christianity has gotten pretty damn despicable (gotten? maybe it has always been). That said, it definitely doesn’t hold to the values Christians like to pretend to have.

Modern Christianity is explicitly about torturing The Other. If it weren’t, organized Christian churches would rise in protest against the GOP. But they don’t. They are complicit.

I’m currently memorizing bible quotes about poverty for the next “Christian values” argument I have to have with a Republican. (My conclusion: If Jesus is real, Paul Ryan is going to Hell.)

If they admit to receiving them, white people see themselves as deserving of those “benefits” that they’re receiving from the government. They aren’t “taking” like the unworthy coloreds are. Some pretend to be too stupid to realize that what they’re receiving is welfare/food stamps/whatever.

And denying that a whole lot of black and brown people seem to come from the lower classes for some strange reason (must be because we won’t sell them our spices and seasoning), but when we point out that our issues are rooted in OUR economic woes...bootstraps.

My husband is six seven, and the last time we flew the person in front of him kept bouncing backwards trying to get her seat to recline, jamming his kneecaps, until he leaned forward and let her know there was no room. She got all huffy until she looked…
