It’s a weird thing about Lena Dunham. I totally think it is an important thing to talk about these kind of things. It shouldn’t be TMI, but Lena is not able to do it without causing me to eye roll.

you have to wonder if this ignorance is plain willful.
Or the kids have been so sick that they’ve missed a lot of school, not to mention the repercussions of not having access to clean water. And the implication that a parent isn’t “decent” if they couldn’t leave the area is really fucked up, btw. Even middle and upper class people probably have a hard time leaving, how…
I know everyone’s first thought is going to sexual/harassment of some kind, but this is Lulu-we’re pretty much a cult-Lemon here.
As a suicide prevention advocate and a suicide loss survivor, I urge you to follow guidelines about reporting on suicide, which include not including method of death, especially in a headline: http://reportingonsuicide.org/
It’ll be interesting to see if the GOP jumps on this, or has the good sense to shut up and avoid people pointing out the insane levels of hypocrisy that would entail.
Dave is great but he’s the definition of “problematic ally”
Deciding on your own to wait to a certain point in your life/relationship is your business, but being compelled to wear your sex life on your sleeve from childhood is so freaking gross.
Dave Chapelle is a prime example of that, too.
Damn right. It’s really playing into a patriarchal image of Man as a big-dick swinging macho fist.
I think another thing that happens, and you see this all the time with men in sports and violence, is even when their pre-frontal cortex brain is “woke”, the amygdala brain kicks in in fight or flight situations, and correctly picks out the most hurtful insult, belief systems be damned.
It’s the same sort of logic that is used to denigrate women and pushes men (who fit a certain physical type) and toxic masculinity as uncritically normative and natural. Emasculate men to compare them something closer to women: insignificant and illegitimate.
I don’t want women insulted over the size of their breasts (but many men do insult them for this) or the size or shape of their vagina, so I don’t think we need to overuse penis size related insults because it can and will make an unintended target feel bad.
Hey, thanks for this. I have a small penis; it’s been incredibly painful for me. I get that this person is a terrible human being, and as someone who doesn’t expose himself (can’t believe we live in a world where that might be noteworthy), hearing it as a term of mockery is a reminder of my constant realization that…
Excellent comment. Very thoughtful and well reasoned.
It’s always struck me as wrong when people say that men are compensating for a small dick by doing X, Y, Z. If they’re doing something wrong, it’s wrong. It feels like a cop out to say that(even in jest).
It may also be damaging to Trans dudes as phalloplasty can be limiting
It’s disappointing yet expected that the importance of your comment will never be addressed or assimilated by the people writing these articles.
You know Jezebel is coasting along on a good day when it feels confident enough to embrace the simple joys of body shaming.
Yeah, I’m with you here. Not defending any of these douchebag behaviors in the slightest, but I find it extremely hypocritical how body-shaming is always wrong EXCEPT when it’s dicks.
