It’s sad that I know this a picture from the 1st season.

Can we just all agree that Abrams is a shitty movie writer? His writing works ok on tv because leaving threads and other things give writers room to develop stories over a period of episodes. For movies plotting needs to be more contained, TFA had the same issues with all of these hanging threads, but it was the 1st…
I think much if the problem is Abrams. I’m sure there is a movie out there suited for his skillset and limitations. As a writer, he relies too much on the mystery box approach, which is why TFA never answered anything, and I’m not even sure there was a plan in place. As a director his pacing is too fast. Credit to a…
I hate to rag on Abrams too much but it’s clear the pacing issues are all his doing. He can’t seem to craft a movie with slower moments. I know the Last Jedi gets alot of crap, but the Luke and Rey sections of the movie really feel more like old Star Wars then any of the newer stuff.
The pacing is my main issue with the Force Awakens, it doesn’t let itself settle down. I think if I could change 1 think about the movie it would be to rework the entire meeting Han Solo section.
I think the sequel trilogy is a missed opportunity to plan out a proper arc. What the ST had over the PT is that I found the characters more interesting, but the story less so. I liked The Force Awakens for the most part but resetting the Universe and not exploring the more Urban locals we couldn’t see in the…
I think Spectre is an example of a movie that could have been really entertaining with another director. It was nice to look at it but lacked energy. Also it would have benefited from having a different composer.
I’m thinking even older then that, like the multiple Parent Trap sequels, Condorman, the movie with the kid with that creates the superbike, etc.
I agree, the good and bad , including all the terrible yet fun remakes that seem to have made up the 80's early 90's Sunday movie.
I think issues are inconsistent. I was able to watch the Mandalorian but many of the tv shows won’t load episodes and things like the A-Z to list of movies and tv shows aren’t loading completely.
One thing I would request from Disney is to create a category for the Wonderful World of Disney original movies. There is some work needed on categorizing the shows and movies.
I’m not a fan of the celebrity voice cast. Shaggy and Fred sound off brand. I don’t really understand why a brand like Scooby Doo needs a celebrity voice cast. The Peanuts movie was a prime example of taking a beloved property and paying respect to it.
I think the audience for Fox is pretty low, 2 million is not a lot of viewers in the big scheme of things. I think Fox is a niche market for right wing media, CNN, MSNBC and others basically split the same demographic more so then FOX.
I know in Canada from what a read HBO max is going to be licensing content to Crave TV. Which in itself is a bit of a shitshow of a service.
Any word on if this is just going to be a US service or available in Canada as well? I think branding wise they would have been better off branding it with the WB or something then HBO. I think it will be a harder sell with families since the HBO brand is more associated with more adult programming , then family fare.
I’m hoping Condor Man and the movie with Chunk from the Goonies who has this super bike , please tell me I’m not the only one to remember that movie
Quite honestly one of the things I’m looking forward to on Disney Plus are some of those old Sunday World of Disney movies.
I would say that overall, the music and specifically the staging of the numbers has been a big step down from the live action counterparts of all the of the remakes. Having just seen the Lion King remake, the biggest downfall for me was the lack of emotion on the characters. It really brought down the musical numbers.
Actually in regards to the comment of the music score drowning out the movie, I actually found one of the issues with the Force Awakens is that the music was subdued to the background and drowned out by the sound mix , as opposed to the way it was used in the original trilogy.
I’d say it’s a combination of sound mixing trying to get as many channels as possible of sound and it being too loud. There isn’t any nuance in many movies anymore. I saw a few posts below complain about the score being too loud, I’ve found the opposite actually with the musical score drowned out by sound effects.…
