Congrats on the new job! It sounds like you are doing pretty well in spite of it all, even if some things are not going so great.

Heh, I thought the “forgetting to break up with that guy” plotline was probably the weakest part of the series. Don’t know what the writers were thinking with that one. It seemed like we were supposed to find it funny? At least I can take comfort in the fact that I’ve never treated a guy quite that bad, although I am…
I watched the Gilmore Girls revival and now I am depressed. Not because of the revival itself, I thought it was pretty great, but because of all the online vitriol being directed at Rory, her floundering career, lack of a stable long-term relationship, her financial privilege, etc. There are some parallels between her…
When I first watched the show I don’t think I ever “disliked” any character really, since I was a pretty impressionable/ naive teenager who didn’t have the mindset to dislike anyone other than outright villains, of which this show didn’t have many. However looking back on it, I can pick out a few things:
I think I had a fairly normal, we-fight-but-still-love-each-other relationship with my mom as a teenager, and I have a great relationship with her now. If I had to pinpoint what drew me into this show, I’d say it was more that Rory was like my personal form of wish fulfillment as a teenager. She was similar to me in…
I feel like all the main characters’ flaws were exaggerated in the revival
“Rich people broke” = “I don’t have much/ any money coming in right now but I don’t want to tap into my trust fund again because it’s not as big as my friends’ trust funds and I’m afraid of using it up and becoming poor people broke”
The only time I cried properly was when Luke did his rant to Lorelei about needing her. I was like “Luuuke sadface” but actually happy face because they ended up happy :)
This is better than an episode of House of Cards.
She’s probably just changed, I agree. When she first blew up she seemed 100% fine with fame. She embraced it and showed no desire at all to be “normal”. I think a more current example of that attitude would be Miley Cyrus. Yea, I am over-thinking this...
Agreed. I think people are far too defensive about their choices on this issue at times. My mom is a “professional woman” who has never worn makeup—never wore it when she was younger and I was growing up, doesn’t wear it now. Yet somehow, miraculously, she managed not to make it into a moral issue with her daughters.…
Yep
I have such a mess of mixed feelings about everything right now.
America gets discredited, destabilized and can no longer afford its foreign engagements. America pulls out of said foreign engagements. Then Putin can do whatever the hell he wants. That’s the endgame. (And, worth noting, it’s basically what happened to the USSR and allowed America’s sole-superpower role in the first…
Miles Teller probably voted Trump.
It’s at the point where I read “a man who loves to engage in Anti-Semitic discourse on Twitter” and my immediate reaction was “That’s all?”
I’m so tired of hearing about how people upset over or protesting this election are “whining” or “childish”. PEOPLE. ARE. AFRAID. And they have every reason to be.
I love this analysis. Brilliant.
The LAPD has also said it will not cooperate.
I haven’t been to France in about 11 years, but my mom was there recently. She said there’s a very distinct feeling in Paris right now—her exact words were that “it feels unstable”. I’m really wondering how exactly all this will play out.
