There’s apparently a very famous psychic (now dead) who predicted a number of huge world events accurately. One of her predictions was that the 44th president of the US would be black, and that he would be the last US president.

Wowza, I had never heard of that interracial marriage thing. That’s quite an...interesting view, to say the least.

I mean, I can only speak for myself, but ever since this insanity happened I no longer give much of a crap at all about the pet issues. Though I would consider myself a progressive absolutely, I’ve always had a bone to pick with certain aspects of the progressive movement. I don’t like the over-reliance on buzzwords

I know on some level he must be fighting with himself over whether he should really be going along with this and legitimizing it. It must be absolute personal hell.

I think they are hated. I used to HATE picky eaters because I would eat anything as a kid/ teen (except candy or anything else ‘too sweet’, I was weird that way) and had little sympathy for those who refused to do the same. I was like, why can’t they just TRY it? And now, not by my own choice, I have become one of

Omg this friend is me. I hate it. I don’t have “allergies” but I do have fucking annoying adult acne that can only be controlled via extreme dietary restriction and yeah, it sucks. I’m getting treated for it and praying that I will soon be able to once again order a meal in a restaurant like a normal person.

To me what’s very telling is that a few days ago, I could have sworn everyone around here found few to no redeeming factors in the Republican party at all and saw it as a group of old, out-of-touch white men (and women) that had lost its relevance. Now people seem to be desperately placing hope in those “reasonable”

I spent so much of this summer stressed out over personal/ career stuff, and family stuff—basically things that were entirely about me or my little niche. I’m kind of feeling nostalgic for that now.

I am not a law person, but have you thought of looking into work at a think tank or NGO? I did work in that sphere briefly and I think many of them look for people with law experience.

I’m moving back to Toronto in a week and I have been looking into volunteering with Syrian refugees there. It does seem like they need people for lots of different things even if you don’t have extra language skills (I don’t).

I’m in Canada, and, same. The current Trump supporting would-be candidate for leadership seems quite excited about all this. I was biking around my city today and just feeling so sad and afraid, and thinking how everything seemed too quiet (though part of that may be that it’s a holiday weekend) and all I could think

I agree we need to find someone truly standout and that another boring Kerry-fashioned white guy will have no chance. I don’t think it needs to be someone who’s already a famous celebrity, at least not necessarily. Obama was nobody until suddenly he wasn’t. Stardom is often like that. People LOVE being handed

It just doesn’t seem like it SHOULD be that hard though, when you consider how many other countries have elected female leaders, in some cases decades ago, and some of those countries are not places we think of as “progressive”. Electing a black president seemed like a miracle because everyone thought that racism in

Well, I can’t speak to all white women, but my relatives in the US “vote with the church”. So the only way to change their vote would be to change what the church is saying, I guess? I really have no clue.

That’s what I thought, too. Seeing them kiss was weird. They’d be great as a badass brother and sister, but I guess every story needs a hot supermodel love interest or it won’t sell tickets so...

I loved Jupiter Ascending so hard. I want a sequel so badly. Yea it was flawed but it was the epitome of everything I love in sci fi, which can be summed up as “political intrigue, cool spaceships and pretty costumes”.

This is a beautiful and perfect response. The world is in mourning with America now. I know the outside world doesn’t exist to a lot of Americans, or if we do, we’re either a nuisance or a threat. But I am glad there are those who choose not to ignore or hate the rest of humanity.

I’m in Canada. My American, Republican aunts are coming up here to visit in a few days. I have no clue what I will say to them. You are awesome for spreading this message to your students. Keep on.

Some people have been saying it’s “really” about unemployment among working class white men and Trump’s promise to bring their jobs back, but I think that’s only a part of it. There are only so many of those guys, and they’re not the only ones who voted Trump.
