Apparently. That totally explains why this trailer looks absolutely nothing like the movie that I remember.
That does help me be quite a bit more excited for this movie.

I think it just wasn’t for me. Like I said, I don’t get it but that’s cool if others got really into it.
I never got the hype around the original (maybe I saw it too late), and this trailer didn’t do much for me, but I’ll watch because Stanfield.
I love this show every bit as much as Futurama. I’m sad it’s ending but I’ll be sure to watch the show in full many times.
RE: The Inventor
DAMN! 2023 is a phenomenal year for animation!
I hadn’t even thought of that, but if Glover brought any or all of his Atlanta co-stars into the project, I would lose my mind in a good way!
That being said, I do want to see something dealing with Qi’’ra and Maul.
I was going to be excited to simply hear this is still in development. I’m ecstatic, now, knowing the Glovers are writing!
Fantastic news! I was worried it would / could be overshadowed by (the outstanding) Across the Spider-Verse, but I’m thrilled to hear that it stands on its own rather than feeling like it’s cashing in on what Spider-Verse did well.
This really has been an amazing year for animation, and Chicken Run 2 is still coming.
The trailer showed violent death but muted profanity.
Oh! And Superman Lives.
I’m not saying any of my suggestions would be good (though some could), but I’d like to see them for curiosity’s sake.
As someone who reads very few comics I’d like to see the following things adapted into DC Animated films:
Batman’89
Before Watchmen
A continuation of Snyder’s thing (I’m not a Snyder stan... I promise! But I did kinda enjoy his run even if I have more hope for what Gunn’s doing)
I like The Boys for all of it’s NSFW-ness so this isn’t a criticism of that... but why the fuck did the trailer have to mute the profanity, but is still allowed to show a guy get punched so hard in the ass that the bloody fist exits his body through his mouth? WTF is wrong with us that single syllables like, “dick,”…
While I have no problem with race swapped characters, I also don’t think they should be forced. I simply feel that William Jackson Harper has the right personality to play Kal-El.
I was worried that my brain would keep comparing this movie to Across the Spider-Verse, but this clip feels like it’s own thing for sure. I’m genuinely excited for this movie!
I’m excited to see Gunn’s DC universe and this movie but I still think William Jackson Harper should have been cast as Clark Kent / Superman. I think he has the perfect demeanor for the role.
I’m certainly no Godzilla nerd but man! I am looking forward to that Minus One movie. The design of the monster and the little clips released just look like the right combination.
I’m a fair-weather fan of Godzilla and I’ve probably seen more American interpretations of the character than Japanese ones. The 1/2 second clip in this trailer has me pretty stoked.
Awesome! If you remember, let me know what you think.
I don’t know Discussing Film’s source on this quote, but they usually only tweet confirmed stuff rather than rumors.
EDIT: OH! I see my screenshot didn’t paste. Copy / pasting the quote below:
““Giving my old pal Nate a bowl cut might have been my primary reason for casting him,” says James Gunn.”
RIGHT?!? I haven’t watched a Japanese Godzilla movie in a while but... when did they up the budget? Also, that logo looks way slicker than anything Legendary has done.
