Making this about me is boring - I am not famous nor interesting enough to get any virtue signaling points from attacking.

I mean, yeah, religion isn’t going anywhere - and people like Maher ignore the various good things that faith does for people.

I don’t have the ability to stop anyone from believing anything, so my desire doesn’t really matter but I’ve personally seen faith change and save lives. It’s a powerful force, responsible for some TRULY heinous shit but I think it’s way more complicated than the glib dismissals people like Maher afford it.

Yes, but it’s weird that Bill Maher is critical of ALL religions, and is labeled as being specifically opposed to one of them.

He’s critical of the islamic idealogy. Not the race (of which Islam isn’t one), the ideology. And it’s in the context of his general mockery of religion - which, to be fair, comes off a little desperate. Like “yeah, we’ve all been undergrads, atheism isn’t revolutionary, calm down you’re a millionaire”.
