If I’d had more (or any) sense, I would’ve waited to start until the spring — warm/humid would probably help mitigate the drying effects at least a little bit, right? But at least I’ve got oily skin to start with, so...

I think probably you could get similar effects for fine lines if used more intermittently, but it would take a lot longer? Since I seem to be having no ill effects so far (other than flaaaaakes so many flakes), I’m just gonna keep pushing through the daily-use regimen. (I did skip a day, and got a minor breakout, and

Yeah, I’ve been doing a gommage peel almost every day, and my bath towels are peshtemals so they’re a little more “scrubby” than normal terry cloth — it def helps, but there’s still a loooooootttt of flakes. :| Supposedly this lets up after a while tho!

I’m only on the .04% one, and I’m hoping it’ll have some effect on wrinkles/fine lines as well, so I’m trying to power through the “ARGH, FLAKES” phase (which my reading indicates doesn’t last forever). But so good to know that occasional use works on acne for you!

Oooo I haven’t tried any of Becca’s concealer products! I just recently ditched my mostly-full tubes of MUFE concealer — which is great, but I had never read the ingredients and OH LOOK, it’s got a fuck ton of cyclomethicone/cyclopentasiloxane, which give me dire breakouts. :(

Oh man I’ve been on a decluttering RAMPAGE, and currently trying to unload : A first-edition yet in blah condition Star Fleet Technical Manual from 1977ish, a pair of 1960s wig cases with three rather fab short blonde wigs, a 60s cub scout hat, a set of bakelite dominoes (probably from the 40s?), an antique steamer

Concur, most laundromats have a few “jumbo” machines suitable for bulky bedding and such. Also maybe use Woolite or The Laundress or Caldrea/Mrs Meyers or another type of relatively “gentle” detergent, rather than Tide etc?

I just (like five days ago) started Retin-A Micro! And HOLY WHOA that shit starts doing its thing, like, immediately. I’ve already had a minor “purge,” and now here come the flakes. Ohhhhh the flakes. So, so many tiny flakes. Flakes on my chin, flakes under my eyes, flakes on my cheeks, flakes around my nose. :(

Oh my god that reddit. :O

I watched it for the first time like two years ago (I’m 45), and was spectacularly unimpressed (except for the when the thing actually sinks, which was some pretty cool fx).

I did a side-by-side comparison of Tarte Gifted and Velvet Noir with totally clean skin (just serum, no oils or moisturizer or foundation or powder) and holy crap they both smudged so much. :| Granted, I’ve got longish lashes and oily skin so I’m more smudge-prone than some, but URGH they were both heavy nopes for me.

Luckily, dimethicone isn’t a problem for me at all — good, because it’s in evvvverything. (Dimethicone is a long chain-shaped molecule, and not prone to pore-clogging ... I do try to avoid it in conditioners, though, as it coats the hair shaft and can be tough to remove without sulfate shampoos.)

Except for Velvet Noir, which, I might as well have just painted black stripes on my undereyes. :|

Fellow acne sufferer offering some unsolicited advice! Check alllll your shit (moisturizers, primers, foundations, concealers) for cyclomethicone aka cyclopentasiloxane/cyclohexasiloxane. That shit gives me dire, diiiiire cystic breakouts. I *just* a couple weeks ago realized it was in my MUFE Full Cover concealer,

Heh, thanks! I mean I kinda feel bad (because I’m female and I’m socialized to!) about saying “hey, you know what? no.” But you shouldn’t be punished/burdened for choosing to have kids ... or for choosing NOT to have them. And if the child-free and flexible staffers are such a boon to companies, it seems like it’d be

Parents have an important job (the at-home job, I mean). I get it. I do! Since I’m not having any kids to fund our future social security checks etc, I’m willing to help out and take up a little slack for those who do. But being systematically shat upon and overburdened in your job because your coworkers with kids

I’m kind of dying to move right now, but otoh I dread it because I have a LOT of counter space right now ... :(

She’s “influenced” me to never watch a fucking YouTube video again, so...mission accomplished?

I assumed eyeball-weirdness was due to some very dramatic cryyyyyiinnnnng. which I am fine with, because she’s a fucking jackass.

#teamRudeNegro. I’ve got a net suitable for wild-dog-catching — let’s get this done, man.
