I love that movie, and I was an adult when I first saw it. I don’t understand the hate it gets.

For once they have a younger actor playing an older part, and not a 45 year old senior in high school!

I love how the movie is a deconstruction and a satire on the Hero’s Journey.

For the era where everything was awesome and one could pretend anything was something cool, like a dragon, or a sword, or a robot, etc.

I was just watching this film with my nephew about twenty minutes ago, he asked me if I had the toys when I was young and I said I didn’t. He asked me what I played with and I had to explain that back then my parents (his grandparents) weren’t earning enough to buy all the latest toys and we had to make toys ourselves

I think the internet has made it his signature look more than he has. Don’t get me wrong, he uses it a fair bit (way too much in some places, like the Enterprise bridge — what the hell, JJ?!) but he’s not the only one, nor is it overused everywhere.

Yeah, I was hoping for a minority too. And something tells me electoral reform will be studied, and considered, and discussed, and... what’s this? It’s 2019 already? Where’d the time go? Law says we gotta drop the writ next month; but don’t worry, we can talk about reform afterward.

I highly recommend Brubaker’s run on Captain America, starting with Winter Soldier. The whole Death of Captain America arc is fantastic, even though Steve Rogers is “dead” for most of it, because all the other characters have to wrestle with Rogers’ legacy and what he really stood for. Steve Rogers’ superpower isn’t

My state just passed a repeal of concealed carry permits. In this day and age, the fact that my states certifiably crazy governor passes a law that will allow any adult to carry a fully loaded, concealed gun without any license or training is ludicrous.

True. There are many many ways we could reasonably choose to regulate firearms. “none of them” is not really working out so well.

I’m sure it’ll be much like the South Park kids waiting on the Terrance and Phillip teaser trailer during Russle Crowe’s “Fightin’ ‘round the World” show. It'll be the very last commercial. :D

I’m hearing 8:30 eastern time.

I thought I read that it’ll be out around 8:30pm?

It will be on “Monday Night Football.” Not sure what time, but it will be on io9 and probably every other website in existence 8 seconds after.

I’m so excited for this. The first two were excellent sci-fi blockbusters that had way more thought put into them than anybody really expected. I hope they double down on both the character-work with the apes and the large-scale action. I want this to be the ape equivalent of Return of the King.

Couch Tomato on youtube has a whole series showing how movie X and movie Y are the same. It’s a matter of how you present it and what details you choose to compare. Amusing none the less...

No! I’m Slash, he’s Hack!

You have no idea how excited I am about this. I am the biggest Hack/Slash fan, and I am really hoping this turns out well. This has so much fucking potential to be just a great fun show. I was never a big Buffy fan, but this I can get behind. God damn, I am so excited.
