Palpatine also says something to the effect of “Kill Vader and take your place by my side and I eill spare your little rebel friends” (You’ll forgive me for nothaving the exact words - I’ve mostly watched the OT dubbed since I didn’t speak English as a kid. ) I don’t think Palpatine ever intended to let Luke strike

Madame Web was billed as something else, though. That’s the problem. The movie’s maketing focused on elements that are barely in the movie, and it is very obvious in the movie that a good chunk of the plot was rewritten in the editing room, leaving a ton dangling threads and plot leftovers scattered throughout. So the

In Return of the Jedi, as I remember it, the real moral danger is not killing Palpatine, it’s killing Vader. Luke is convinced there is good in him still and that he can bring Anakin back. He believes in choosing the harder path, redemption, over the easier path, execution, despite everyone else being highly

I’m sure he wants to try again in 2028, but unless Trump is dead, it mught be difficult. If Trump loses in 2024 and aint dead, he’ll probably run again just because of his ego. And if Trump wins this year and isn’t dead by 2028, I garantee he’ll either try to screw the rules and stay for a third term, or he'll make

Well, DeSantis isn’t trying to be President, or even Vice-President anymore, so of course he doesn’t have any appetite for fighting Disney anymore.

Smile was disappointing, but having never heard of this movie before, I have no strong feeling one way or another about a remake. My general rule is that no work of art is sacred, so there is nothing wrong with remaking one, it all depends on the execution. Some remakes are terrible, others are great, and most are

The reboot movie was surprisingly decent. While it used the same approach as Josh Trank’ Fant4stic - take a property known for being colorful and silly, and try to make it a serious, dour teen drama — it pulled it off mostly on the back of casting solid young performers and giving them something to chew on writing

I’m more charitable towards pop culture than you are in terms of politics, and I’m not big on playing semantics with the term “liberal”, but on the whole I agree with you. The anti-woke weirdos have a tendency to scream “radical leftist indoctrination” whenever a corporation does the bare minimum pandering to a

Bizarrely, though, they also tend to defend the original Jurassic Park as another pure apolitical blockbuster, despite the fact that that movie explicitly calls out “sexism in survival situation”.

If you are both Hobbitting and Lucasing something, would that be Willowing or Ewoking it?

Ah yes, Alien, the movie where capitalism is represented by a ruthless inhuman robot who admires the slimy monster and considers human expandables, is a movie without agenda. I love how uninformed these people are. I don't love how hostile they are to being informed.

Ah, so he’s not Hobitting it. He Lucasing it. Aka pretending he has a larger story all figured out, but actually all he has is a bunch of proper names and a few half-formed ideas.

Why are they changing the titles? Is it just to fool into thinking into these are new instalments altogether? That’s kinda scummy.

Part 3? There’s a part 3? Since when? I thought it was announced as a 2 parters. Are they Hobbitting this thing?

But, but, the ratings are bad!!! /s

I really liked this episode BECAUSE it was classic no-frill Doctor Who. Historical period + Cheesy Aliens. Everything else was gravy.

When the show started, I remember a few progressive voices in online comics space calling the show mysoginistic, edgelord bullshit. Garth Ennis is a divise figure, and people often see him as more conservativd than he is.

The comics had 9/11 being a cover-up and was a huge critique of the War on Terror, the Patriot Act, US military imperialism, US celebrity culture and corporate America. All things that the Republican and Trump are the current face of.

Sure the bullett shitting didn't work, but call me easy, that shot of the Psycho taking ClapTrap by the wheel and dragging him up the stair like luggage, that one made me laugh.

I mean, just from the clip above, I can tell you this isn’t the case. Sure, it doesn’t look great, but it doesn’t look In the Name of the King: A Dugeon Siege Tale bad.
