I don’t condone brake checking, but admit I have purposely slowed when someone is tailgating me when I am driving the speed limit and not in the far left lane of the highway.

Link?

Lol. I don’t mind a teensy finger-pointing. I was 23 at the time, right out of college. The guy who lectured me was a good 15 years older than me, and not my boss, but definitely senior to me.

You hit on a major point sort of glossed over here. The dept head would have probably had a problem with the request, even if LW didn’t use “peach,” or any other nickname. The fact that she overheard the superior using say “and she...” suggests the nickname was just the tip of the iceberg.

“Nothing classified was sent over the insecure server...”

I liked working the carry out counter because people were pretty generous with the tip jar.

Burn down the stores.

Postal Service definitely came first, but I don’t think it’s worth getting bogged down in comparing them, because then you get into the old argument that Kraftwerk and DP came before THEM, and did it even better.

I think on a relative scale, that song is pretty much not generic, and even fairly original. I’d be curious to hear what you’d regard as cutting edge.

It’s Harold Hunter (not Hudson)

This is horrible, and reminds me of the story of Thandie Newton and the casting director - which surprisingly, Jezebel appears to have never reported on a couple of years ago:

Again, I completely agree with you. But my point was a purely theoretical, academic question: Can an 80-year-old man realistically be considered a threat to society? What about a 95-year-old? I suppose it’s possible he could be, in completely unsupervised circumstances in which he attacks someone who is vulverable

I would tend to agree with you. I am curious what you think about his parole, which could come as early as his 5th birthday. I wouldn’t think that it would be a good idea to release even a 55-year-old Magnotta on society, but at what point ever would it be acceptable?

I agree - and it was my conclusion as well after I first watched the video. She should have used different actors in the video - her appearance distracts from her message and, predictably, has made many critics jump to point out that she is “doing porn.”

I will give Jezebel credit on their headline, calling the film a “Disturbing Sex Tape.” It’s fascinating what other media outlets have referred to it as. Some have completely avoided the elephant, to use the metaphor you had used earlier.

People’s headline was probably among the most milquetoast ever: “Columbia Student

I agree with pretty much everything you wrote. I think she has done a disservice to the movement, and Gawker’s silence with regard to this video is strange to say the least.

But it is a hardcore video, in the literal sense of the term. It depicts oral sex and penetration. It also employs the hackneyed porn trope of featuring an actor with a large penis, which has the effect of turning the film into a prurient one. And Great Mango is right to question whether Sulcowicz is now doing a

I am a guy as well. Another thing to consider, beside the whole question of upstaging the bride and groom on their wedding day, is the fact that such a proposal is also a very public, grandstanding one. I proposed to my wife in front of the ocean, no audience. And it’s fine if a guy wants an audience, but I think

But where does Captain Pike fit in here?

Part of the problem is that this isn’t simply art, it’s arguably pornography. She complicated the issue by casting an actor with a a 9-inch penis, one hallmark feature of porn films.
