I'm always pleasantly surprised to see no victim blaming in the comments. And I refuse to check the greys. 

The thing is, these teams would exist with or without actual affiliation. It’s just that having MLB attached makes for stable paychecks all around and a steady wave of talent. But for the most part, the ballparks are all built for these smaller cities and people want to see baseball one way or another.
