I really liked the film of The Handmaid's Tale with Natasha Richardson, Elizabeth McGovern, Robert Duvall and Faye Dunaway. I read the book afterwards and found both memorable and scary. Looking forward to this as I felt the film fudged the ending a bit.

The rating system at AV club is all over the place! Sub-Pretty Little Liars stuff like Riverdale getting As! Homeland gets Ds? Riverdale is pure trashy teen soap. Great to see so many former teen heartthrobs getting work but it has a plank of wood with a bad dye job as the lead and yet another teen show that glorifies

Amy Sherman-Palladino is an auteur who hasn't been well treated by the networks IMO. Yes she got 6 years of Gilmore Girls but was then booted off. Bunheads was axed before its time and a few other shows didn't take off. ASP comes across as quite bull-headed and stong minded, but someone with her talent should have

I also really liked this finale and this season as a whole has been good. Personally I was very ready for Quinn to die as he has been an unstable asshole most of the time while our beloved - and previously unstable - Carrie has been the sensible and reasonable one.
Elizabeth Marvel is a strong presence, but I do

Jaime Murray is always fun to watch, and Patrick Fleischer (spelling probably wrong) is a constantly creepy joy. Still, most of the other story lines are a dirge. Hook and Blackbeard was a super predictable storyline. I didn't hink the CGI spider worked that well. Henry might go nuts. Regina can't fix the Snow/

Trying to think of a show that had a boost in quality like Legends? A so-so first season with a dull baddie has become one the most entertaining and most improved shows around. Agreed with the author, the focus on Sara has really helped. A well rounded character and charismatic actor, plus she makes sense as a leader

What a gem of a 7 episode series. Absolutely brilliant performances, great soundtrack, Breaking Bad-levels of tension. Skarsgard was chillingly scary, Kidman showed what a skilled actress she was (although I thought she had a better US accent! Wonder if she was focussing more on the emotional reality that working with

Agreed, I thought this was a stong episode too. A good moral quandary for Clarke is the best type of story. I was waiting for Murphy to bring up Lexa as he was the one there with them when she was killed and the only left who saw Clarke's grief. With Roan mentioning her a few times, Lexa was quite the presence.

Excellent review that sums up my problems with the direction of this season. There has been a lot of good things this year, Maggie and her relationship with Alex, Lena, and yes, Mon-El has charm but it is the way his story has had so much more weight than any other that has upset the balance for me. It's no

I love the characters and the actors on this show, but plot wise, it has been spinning its wheels since season 2 and the fallout from the first and One True curse breaking was tied up. We've been doing rinse-repeat on Emma and Hook, Regina and Robin, Regina and Zelena, Rumple and Belle, Henry and his mothers for ages

Halt and Catch Fire's Bosworth (Toby Huss) did a Sinatra turn on that show so kind of funny to see him here playing him as a total asshole!

Such a delight! I always loved Melissa's voice on Glee, even when her character was kind of boring. Grant had bags of charm and charisma as Sebastian and you could see how comfortable both of them were with singing and dancing.

No!

Always love episodes focussing on Jane and Petra. So much history and complexity in that relationship.

Solid episode but not outstanding (B to B+ for me) and it was nice to se Teri Hatcher and Kevin's Sorbo. I did appreciate Kara staying firm about not forgiving Mon-El but let's be honest, she's going to end up taking him back eventually even though Teri Hatcher is right, he isn't good enough for her.

I remember Melissa's first episode and she was sweet, had a great voice but was quite bland. Glee's actors worked best when they were over the top outrageous with very little subtlety! Marley got saddled with saddo storylines and was kind of drippy. Melissa is perfect as Kara, guess just the right fit for her.

I enjoyed this pilot a lot. Being on Amazon, we got a bit of swearing - ASP is famously sweary! - and some nudity (female, naturally!)
I've been a bit on the fence about Rachel Brosnahan. Manhatten bored me and her character on House of Cards was basically controlled by the men around her in a way that irritated me.

I am also an inverse fan, as I always HATED Buffy and Angel as a couple and really got into the show in S4 however I draw the line at season 7 - those potentials didn't work at all for me and Kennedy was all wrong for Willow!

Interesting that Lena's assistant was revealed to be working for Lilian in this episode. Once again, Lena shows she can help by finding out about the location of CADMUS (although I'm still wondering why she had that synthetic kryptonite in her safe that Cyborg Superman stole the. Framed her for. Yes it was him, but

Some great work by Nicole Kidman this week. The reactions to Perry choking her, and she finally stood up for herself. Also that whole therapy scene was so tense and full of subtext. Would either of them tell the truth? Would Perry take some sort of revenge after?
For what could be a soapy Desperate Housewives rerun,
