Exactly. It’s okay for gay white men and drag queens to co-opt AAVE, and we can laugh at them and enjoy it on television when it’s used in a comedic, almost derogatory context, but when a black woman says the exact same things in the exact same way, it becomes annoying and off-putting? That is peak cultural

That’s such a flawed line of thought, though. Anyone (who knows enough about drag queens to be familiar with their vernacular) should also at least be slightly aware that most of their vocabulary is borrowed from black culture. So if she was fired for being “too much like a drag queen”, then this is really fucked up.

I know! Dad is getting some serious air!

This makes absolute sense and my heart aches for this man. Having said that, that's a fucking amazing picture.

I always recommend that people who like “Veep” also seek out “The Thick of It,” Ianucci’s original show. His movie “In the Loop” is also fantastic.

“Don’t give me that Mormon-in-a-titty-bar look, Kent”

The episode where Amy is working at (I think) a campaign office and keeps saying horrible things, and everyone (normal) is shocked by her, and she has to keep apologizing.

I feel like Splett has been getting alot of the best jokes this season. He kills it.

Oh, my god, I’d never seen that! Splett is such delight — he just says whatever he thinks without ever thinking about the words coming out of his mouth. While being unfailingly cheerful about everything.

I love Splett!

The one that always makes me laugh (even just to think about it), despite being pretty non-sensical, is this Mike-ism from early S2 (I think): “It’s like trying to explain Supertramp to a komodo dragon.”

You know what, I’m more than mildly annoyed by people with strollers, especially the kind of $1,000+ strollers that are wide as a tank, and the way they think they have priority over anyone else who dares to come into their vicinity and they won’t budge and will bump into your legs on purpose. They think they have

I stopped at “before she came out” because I knew it was going to be a glorious shitshow. However, I thought the problems were going to be from the media circus and the exploitative nature of reality TV. I had everything completely backwards, and she’s the problem and her reality show is like one of the least awful

Race is perceived differently in places like Brazil in that a person that looks obviously mixed but has paler skin may be called “white” there, but make no mistake that anti-Blackness is the law of land, and Black Brazilians are severely under-represented, even though the majority of the country is either Black or

I think those two are one and the same.

The kid is either going to grow up to be a serious troll/prankster or a sociopath.

It’s telling how the woman in her mid-20ies is a homewrecker, while the poor, naive man twice her age and life experience was just an easy mark to exploit and blackmail.

Of course the whole issue is that the past becomes inaccessible to us if we lose the ability to read/write handwriting.

I’ve worked in some archives and penmanship of over 100 years ago is as beautiful as paintings. Just absolutely stunning.

No mention of fountain pens in the list of pens. Clearly they don’t have anything nice to say about them, since they didn’t say anything at all!

The prim and proper BBC report also doesn’t delve into the epic amounts of shit a 200-300 pound pig produces. A family on my street had a potbelly pig they kept in the house and all of their kids had an odor that clung to their clothes.
