I’ve owned 3 generations of 4Runners. All of them taken off-road in Colorado regularly. Number of times I’ve locked my rear diff: 0.

I find it odd too. I would’ve thought that they could have done some variation on the theme and keep it recognizable but somewhat different. Seems a little bit lazy to just keep it identical.

Really annoyed that they won’t show the SR5 or what the normal colors will be. Also the rear seat design is awful for people that want to sleep in the back. I don’t get why they can’t do a better folding seat design that is at least somewhat flat when folded down.

Drove with it down quite frequently and neither of these is an issue.

Also the new Land Cruiser looks like a pain to sleep in. That's important to some of us.

I contacted a local dealer today about pre orders or reservations and they have no info yet. Also no word on when they are getting them. He said he'll get back to me.

Speaking of high concept scifi - if there’s anyone that could make Hyperion into something manageable it’s Denis.

Fair enough but a large part of what makes Book of the New Sun interesting (or frustrating to many) is how hard it is to figure out what’s really going on or even understand what’s being described. Without that I’m not sure what you have left. Hardest thing I’ve ever read hands down.

I don’t know how on earth you could make Book of the New Sun into a movie. The unreliable narrator part doesn’t work visually and the vague nature of the events wouldn’t really work either. Terry Gilliam is about the only director I can think with the weird enough sensibility to even make a go of it. Or Del Toro I

Because there is no realistic alternative.

Right, because the NASA way of building SLS has been cheaper. Wait. No it hasn’t. Not even a little bit. “Expensive” is relative but NASA’s way is far more expensive and slow.

This is never coming out. At least Patrick Rothfuss is young enough that The Doors of Stone may come out eventually but Martin is going to die before we ever see this finished.

They don’t need Starship per se but they really need the Falcon 9 given that ULA can’t get Vulcan off the ground. ULA and SpaceX are the only two options for national security launches.

Yeah, they seem to be really...sorry, stoked, about this company for no real reason. At this point this company is barely past the vaporware stage let alone a real rocket that will actually fly. This is just a powerpoint slide at this point.

Wasn’t “Beyond The Sea” in the latest season of Black Mirror effectively this? I can’t see a huge difference from the summary on Amazon of the novel between them. Maybe they aren’t as similar as they sound.

I don’t know how to put this but suffice to say I am one of those males in one of those age categories and I haven’t hurt myself....yet. The last few years have been awful. Between COVID, inflation, wages not keeping up, a crappy job, a newborn, and a difficult marriage it’s only by sheer will and fear that I haven’t

So do I. I wanted to replace my 2008 4Runner with a newer 4Runner but I’d take this in a heartbeat.

Insomnium?

Yes. There are some that are better than others but the The Final Architecture trilogy is great. I haven’t read most of his fantasy novels though so I can’t speak to those.

Ugh, I hope not. I had such high hopes for the Animaniacs revival and it was awful.
