This is the Explorer, a high-fidelity static model. It's actually a more realistic depiction of the shuttle than Enterprise, because it has actual mockup thermal tiles in the correct pattern. The Enterprise was never fitted with tiles.

It's actually a good idea. For one thing, I'm sure they're not using mined gemstone-quality diamonds for this; synthetic industrial diamonds will do the job just as well.
