I disagree.
I disagree.
I've said it before and I'll say it again; the Boxster/Caymen are better platforms with more performance potential than the 911, but Porsche will always hold them back because the batshit 911 community would show up on their doorstep with torches and pitchforks if they ever were stupid enough to dethrone the mighty…
I know what you're saying, but the Mercedes quality control nosedive in the early 2000's had more to do with their own desire to churn out high volume products, and less to do with any Chrysler influence. It would have happened either way, because their research data told them that people didn't care about buying…
CP.
A lot (read: ALL) small-volume supercars use parts-bin items like gauges, interior trim, steering wheels, electronics, light assemblies, ABS systems, etc. This is nothing new at all. Parts like that are extremely expensive to manufacture and test, and most companies simply can't do it. If you make everything from…
Oh yeah, that's a fantastic idea. Lets brick everyones cell phone because of a few idiots.
And I think '87 was the only year they made it too?
Yeah 5-speed IROC/Z28's from that era are like unicorns.
You could get a LOT more power out of those motors with some relatively easy modifications. They were choked by regulation, not technology.
As the former owner of a 1986 IROC, I can personally attest that you do NOT want to go faster than 120mph in one.
1:05 to skip the crappy music slideshow and get to the video.
I hardly think that Salon is a shill for the auto industry.
I don't get it.
Well, some homeowners in Weehawken just hit the goddamn lotto. Rent your flat out to a wealthy European for ten grand on race weekend.
Two things:
Heh... Give it another fifteen years. People considered the 914 to be disposable pretty much from day one, but now their values are going through the roof (relatively speaking).
How about this Wes, you goddamn longhair communist: Control the members of your tribe who give all riders a bad name by scaring the ever-living shit out of drivers on a regular basis, and maybe drivers will be a little less edgy when they see a motorcycle and therefore less prone to road rage when you pass them.
I'm glad to see them working on 944's and 928's also. Too many Porsche guys ignore those models.
There's no such thing as an 'Electric M3'. It's a BMW frame with an electric motor in it. It ceased to be an M3 when they pulled the engine out.
Those boys really know how to handle a stick.
