Strangely I’m not really a “music at home” person... and I always thought I wasn’t a “background noise while working” person. But I recently discovered that when I was getting really mentally agitated about work and family and going outside and not able to focus because I was hearing street noise and stupid stuff — I

Deadsplinter keeps up the tradition. You’ll see a few familiar names over there.

I transplanted my sunflower seedlings into bigger pots, and it’s probably a bit too early, but I started some watermelon seeds in biodegradable newspaper pots, that way no transplant distress when they finally go into the ground. One of our tulips finally opened today, and our grape hyacinths are looking cute.

April 25 also commemorates the Carnation Revolution in Portugal.

Any recommendations for a good site that deals specifically with Asian American issues (and is also feminist)? I ask b/c quite frankly some of the responses to articles focusing on Covid related racism have been appalling. Why is it that the few times Asian racism is talked about, it’s always either A) diminished, B)

I see it less as a contest to be first or about being original. To me it’s about celebrating random days that are otherwise just days. Holidays are only days we gave special significance, after all.

Lisa Kleypaaaaaas!  (I just came to say that. lol.)  And your little grootlings are looking good!

Would eat!!! :D

I’ve got nothing tonight except that I am sick of all of this. I’ve avoided the news & my phone for the day and I was in a much better head space so I’m gonna stick with that for now.

Ive eaten all the coeliac-friendly junk in the house so have resorted to making it myself. Definitely not the same.

Shelter Catstravaganza!

I’m locked down with parents whose garden I’m comandeering for vegetables, and a brother whose dog is self-appointed seedling protector.

I am so sorry for your loss.  Hugs to you and your family.

Nothing helpful to say except that your father in law was lucky to love you and your husband, and lucky to be loved by you.

My productivity took a nose dive this week, so I’ve pretty much just been baking to fill my time. Today I made cream puffs. Gluten free ones. They look like exploded Smurf but they taste quite proper. Earlier in the week it was macarons, so it’s patisserie week in the house.

What’s everyone cooking? I took Friday off this week, because it’s been a busy few weeks at work, but honestly I probably shouldn’t have, it just mad me really sad that we have to cancel our anniversary trip, and I couldn’t go to Target to get an anniversary card or anything, I don’t even have a gift to give. Cooking

I’m sorry to hear that, blood family can be the fucking worst.

I’m so very sorry for you and your husband’s loss. My condolences to you and your family during this most difficult time.

I'm so sorry about your FIL.

“Miss Congeniality” is my go-to movie when I need a boost - when I need to remind myself just how bad-ass I can be, even if I am awkward AF. (Also, the camaraderie from the women, especially at the end, warms my heart.)
