Me too. As a kid I LOVED the idea. I still remember seeing the promos for it and just thought it was the greatest idea.

I saw the 3hr+ cut of both films together at TIFF last year and it was a great experience. I really can't imagine just seeing one part of it. They compliment each other beautifully.

Probably my favourite moment of the series. Her breaking after revealing she wasn't even allowed in the yearbook pic was heart-breaking.

I really enjoyed their friendship too. Dax brought out a playful, girly side to Kira that she obviously couldn't really have growing up a freedom fighter/rebel.

Yes, I think they just couldn't resist the idea of making it Khan (they had apparently made it a different character entirely and then realized it *could* be Khan). I'm hoping that the 3rd one breaks form form the wink/nod drive and just tells a fun ST story.

What characters though? They're all so universally bland. Hoshi & Mayweather were barely window (viewscreen?) dressing.

You can also argue that it was done *after* TNG since the Borg ENT ep is a follow up to the First Contact movie and thus the ripple effects from it were not yet apparent.

The theme song is what me a huge fan of Abandoned Pools. I have all of their albums and even the full extended version of this song. "Blood" just rocks.
