As soon as they mentioned Shaq Fu, I burst out laughing because of its infamous reputation. But Eddie's need to own the game reminded me of how I felt when I just HAD to own the new hottest game on release date, and I totally forgot about how much it sucked until the last scene.
As I recall, SNES and Genesis games were $50 with the odd SNES game with a special chip in them or extra memory drove up the price. The N64 games were brutal — Shadows of the Empire was $80 and most of them were $60 minimum.
The burning bit was tonally off from the rest of the show, but it was funny so I let it pass. Compare that to the scene in the 2nd (?) epsiode where Jessica runs down the dine and dashers with her minivan, which was more cringe inducing than funny because she should totally be going to jail. Not sure who thought…
I can't afford to fly to Italy. Then again, perhaps I can't afford NOT TO.
I forgot he had a day job.
The Fillion scenes were totally random and unconnected to anything. Considering the show's audience has grown so far across all demos, the nerdservice is just for nerdcred. I doubt most of the viewers even recognized Fillion.
I was surprised it never happened. Not even in the vanity card. Did have an "in memory of" card back when Susi passed away?
I don't think I could have sex with nippleless women. Mannequins are out for the same reason.
I'd assume it was harder to get a handle on her since there was no real Erica Goldberg to base on.
I'm kind of ashamed to admit this, but I subsist on other people's leftovers at work. When there aren't any, I eat a can of tuna. So I totally identified with Barry and by extension, you as well.
I had forgotten about that scene. Barry getting tuna juice all over the van had me rolling.
I think you want something from the movie (a great story) that was never the intent of the film. Linklater didn't set out to film a great story. He wanted to display slices of life played out over real time and show a genuine passage of time. The result was spectacular and unique. I won't begrudge anyone saying it was…
Did he yell, "It's better to burn out than to fade away!" as he left the office? 'Cause that would be badass.
The two things are inextricable. The way the movie treats time is what makes the film so profound and mind blowing, and that's both because of how it was made and what the movie was about. A Transformers film shot over 12 years isn't going to elicit the same reaction, because there would be no point.
I never could tell if it was Fila or Fils either. This was before the internet, so no one knew for sure.
Lanyard I've heard of (also featured prominently in Napoleon Dynamite). But that's the first time I've heard it referred to as a "gimp".
George Segal is also killing it as Pops, but Barry is my favorite character and it's not even close. Even jokes about Barry are the best, like when Dave Kim's mom described Big Tasty Pork ("It's fried pork with regular pork on top").
If you do, you MUST cast Clancy Brown.
