Millenial here... born 1991. I find no interest in buying any new car on the market today.
Hard to make statistics when they only represent new car owners.
Links for builds:
Quite generalized, narrow minded to say the least. Why do you make the bold presumption that every young person is uneducated and choosing their car for the wrong reason? Could it be that someone actually likes this car? Affordability is a great thing for those who want to build project cars.
Man, I live just over in Mission Viejo, 3 minutes from Irvine. The torch is gonna be in my stomping ground! Fan since the day your bug went missing, first time I saw your name.
Even trashed ones are beautiful with a little love, the lack of road salt/rust in CA is epic.
I restored a 1987 4Runner turbo, 264k miles, sat 6 years neglected. The body just needed a little bit of polishing thanks to the one stage paint! In NY, there would be nothing left of it but some rusty chunks of metal.
I got the car for $1,700. Those familiar with the 7M-GTE Supra engine know there are head gasket problems. This owner blew his head gasket (130k is about on the dot for when they finally go) and decided to sell the car, rather than fix it.
Thankfully I wanted one of these cars for a project, the motor is coming out…
I bought this last week! I am in love!
Yes! The 22R-E will keep any kid away from speeding tickets. A bare bones 2WD 5 speed with no power steering or AC would be my ideal training vehicle for a future gearhead.
A 4WD or 4Runner would do well too.
Great film
Agreed 100%... The prices for one at the time I got mine were high enough that I wouldn't have considered buying one. Luck would have it, I was leaving a junkyard when an impound lot owner was dropping off an 87 4Runner Turbo. It had been sitting for 6 years, neglected and tired, had 264k, yet somehow had an all…
That's my worst nightmare... it is stored in the garage, installing an alarm and kill switches soon. The green 4Runner behind it is my daily, someone decided to grant themselves entry through my back window. Parking lot, broad daylight. Some people really suck.
The jealousy thing is growing old. Not everyone aspires to drive a BMW, and those who think the world dreams of BMW ownership are in denial about their own faults.
