Yeah. Tinker Tailor was SO good…! I'd like to see more George Smiley but I'd be inclined to give this a chance - Nesbo's plots are nearly as complex, so it's not going to be your standard jump-scare cop vs. serial killer thing.

I have only read one Nesbo novel and the tone is grim, and I think pretty realistic as to the forensics stuff etc. On the other hand I was reading a translation - in Norway it might be a real laff riot.
I really enjoyed the book, much more than I did those Girl With the Dragon Tattoo things.
Dracula beats Invasion; has a ton of movies based on the actual book if that's how we're counting.
It's a nearly foolproof story: the 1956, 1978 and 1993 version all brought different stuff to the table in terms of setting, character, and attitude.
I didn't see the latest; by all accounts it was bad. But unlike a lot of s-f premises and books, this one is durable and a new take might work out just fine.
I'm not much of Julia Roberts fan, so maybe my opinion should be ignored. But when I read "military psychologist in a secret government facility (Roberts)" I immediately think "nuclear physicist Christmas Jones (Richards)."
The toothy girl from Mystic Pizza?
President Kelly? He was earlier, I thought, and despite Katherine Pryde's best efforts, went on ahead with his anti-mutant legislation, bringing us a dystopian 2013, patrolled by Sentinels which killed off nearly all the mutants, and on the brink of nuclear armageddon.
I'm too lazy to look it up, but I think every state's secession document named slavery as the reason.
I absolutely can't wait till the MCU Black Panther movie comes out. Not because I think it will be good, though I do.
I want to watch conservative republicans try to force a "oh, what if WE made a superhero movie and called it White Panther? Huh? What would the liberals say THEN???!!!"
Nothing beats Roller Derby names (which to be fair are SUPPOSED to be silly-ish).
NPR's girl reporter Alex Cohen's derby name is Axles of Evil.
Yuri ight.
My dad was too, but he landed wrong so he's a paratweegic now.
I was trying to come up with something to say about Yancy Street but gave up.
Soundtrack? The Al Stewart song, please.
But only over the credits of the final episode, please, because spoilers.
I think it's Chili's that has a menu really similar to Island's (another chain) and I always thought they must have the same owner. They don't - and both of those have a menu similar to Red Robin… but I think all that means is there's only so many things you can put on a hamburger.
That's absolutely true, about southern cooking. I'm a Californian too, and have access to plenty of authentic barbecue and grilling joints (some quite a drive away). Invariably the best ones are run by actual people from the south (or from Texas) — or at the very least children of people from the south.
Or Texas.
Well. Certainly in the Soviet Union.
I don't generally like mayo, but this stuff might be worth trying. I like actual barbecue sauce on beef, but am always on the lookout for sauce for chicken that won't overpower it.
I get angry when people put forth the idea that the French are/were less than courageous in… well, every war they've been in, esp. WW2. It's ignorant and unfair.
I GUESS I understood the less than good reviews for Fire Walk when it came out — just never got why they were quite so negative. Not that I personally didn't like the movie - I did but was predisposed to — but some critics (see the article above for instance) were just vitriolic.
Even if you didn't understand the…
