I’m hoping a lot of that’s a purposeful stylistic choice, that this is a pretty sterile, artificial world... and that maybe we’ll get some more distinct-looking areas later on.

I’m sure people here are already sick of me mentioning how I got put off by the demo, but, man...

As I’ve said before, I don’t think the practice should be done away with entirely, but

It’s a real cool concept on paper, but I suppose it’ll just stand as proof you shouldn’t slow down your platformer by going nearly fully to point-and-click design all of a sudden.

Sort of off-topic, but comments here have got me thinking:

... why did they do full physics instead of a set path to begin with!?

Throw out all of Star Wars, really. I'm supposed to cheer for someone who's way too convincing as The Joker?

Yeah, I hope the demo at least let more people see if they clicked with it or not; it obviously works far better on Switch than the port of the very-DS original, but it’s still a lot to get your head around. (I probably wouldn’t have gotten it without dying several times over to one mandatory fight so early on you

Look, after a multi-episode video essay, I can tell you that Quest 64 was clearly meant to have a story... just barely any of that survived (and I think the coolest tidbit is entirely optional?), but you can almost trace out something... if you take a dozen guesses about what’s supposed to be happening

They kept throwing all the ads at me, even after I’d already bought it, and I’m sorry, Square Enix, but I just can’t single-handedly make it a big hit myself!

I think a lot of companies end up doing that where they can - generally just with more minor characters, though! - it’s just that most companies aren’t suddenly put in the spotlight to this extent. (Some have fewer problems, many have probably just kept their problems hidden better, and even in other cases it’s only

Now playing

While we’re sounding off about Knuckles song covers in the comments, lemme drop my favorite.

A little disappointing that Detective Pikachu was probably the closest we'll get to SCPokémon, but it did rule.

I remember this being a white whale of sorts, as fan translations go?

and Joshua Rivera, who's mostly gone all in on TV and movies instead of video games now, but continues to write good!

I think a notable thing here is all the people trying to reclaim “queer” - the acronyms can get long-winded, the categories can get blurry, so it is nice having a word that in theory covers everything. So plenty of people self-identify as queer.

I fear we are simply not horny enough to carry the torch, but I’ll try.

LET ME BUY A DOZEN MORE F-ZERO TRACKS, YOU COWARDS

I downloaded the Miitopia demo... and haven’t even tried it yet. I think I can see the appeal, just got caught up in Dragon Quest Builders 2 and then Neo TWEWY after some very good demos, so... haven’t bothered. Maybe if it ever goes on sale?

The one thing Mario Kart Wii still has going for it is that it was easy as heck to mod your Wii and get tons of custom tracks (admittedly, of varying quality. But still, plenty that were quite good!)
