Fallout 4 also deserves credit on how to do open world right. It eschews for the most part any of the usual find 10 of these, 500 of these BS quests, even minor quests have well thought out stories and characters that are more than just “local villager who needs X brought here,” and almost all locations were lovingly

I can’t think of any personal examples, but I am reminded of Staggering Stew Bum’s Hitman murder piles and Lurky McLurk’s Dragon Age run where he has sex with everyone. The Gameological community is fun!

But I think Zack’s criticisms aren’t about how “this isn’t Trek”, but about how hacky and pointless he feels the attempts to relate this show to previous Treks are, and how reminding us of better shows does no good for Discovery at this point. And I think it’s a fair criticism, and even MORE fair, since you were there

For me, the biggest problem is that they showed a fundamental lack of imagination in the premise of the show. Another prequel. Ever since the end of Voyager, Star Trek has been looking backwards. Enterprise, the new film series and now Discovery. Will the next series be set 3 weeks before TOS? In the space between

I’m not exactly expert on matters Tolkien, but is it even the case that Orcs have free will in the first place?

I’ll have to check with @Snazzlenuts to see if I’m allowed to play Jackbox games with him and his wife anymore. I might have ruined it for them, because knowledge of trivialities is my bag, baby.

I know I have a reputation here as a little behind the times in gaming, so I’ve decided to start a backlog of current gen games.

From the streams I’ve watched so far, yeah, Surviving the Internet and Monster Seeking Monster don’t translate as well for spectator games, but I absolutely want to play so much Monster Seeking Mosnter with a group of trusted friends. Civic Doodle looks great, and oh my glob I love the graphic design of Fibbage 3.

My week has mostly involved routine check-ups in Stardew Valley (Demetrius asks if he can set up an experiment in my cave one day, tells me to stay away from his daughter the next day, then asks if I can loan him a melon for an experiment the next day. Make up your mind, man, are we cool or are we not cool? Also, no

We resumed our campaign last Saturday after taking a few weeks off. We’re going through Tales of the Yawning Portal, and are nearing the end of Sunless Citadel.

I’ll try to check out your stream! I’ve been enjoying the Jackbox streams of party pack 4 for months and I haven’t had the time this week to dig in to the game myself yet, but I’m sure it’ll be coming with me for Thanksgiving with the family just like the past two years.

Fallout 3

As promised, I finished piracy simulator Black Flag last weekend. Having discussed the Orange Box I then blew through Portal again (according to the save games, it was about 6 years since I last played it. That can’t be right...)

This is one of those weird weeks where this weekend is more of a looking ahead to next weekend, or looking back on what I was playing last weekend. So let’s start with something random.

Salutations~

So I’ve started and had one longish session with Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. I’m impressed with the game and during cutscenes caught myself making weird/anguished faces at the pain and horror on-screen. The puzzles are fun and the game looks and sounds great. I’ve got only one negative but unfortunately it’s a big

It’s nice to read a certain validation of my own flying anxieties, Clayton, although honestly, the only part of it scarier than the flying to me is the airports themselves, all stuffed with people and an endless stream of CNN-blasting TVs. I’m fairly certain I saw more of our regrettable president’s face than you’d

It also take more than 4 episodes before we get around to meeting all those people. Can we give it at least 1/4 of season before we start complaining that we not have enough backstory for Ensign Daft Punk?

My main problem with the show right now is that there don’t seem to be any positive relationships. Like, they went from all positive relationships in TNG to none in Discovery. It feels like everyone is antagonizing everyone else all the time, and no one wants to be where they are.

An interesting note: the episode begins and ends with dopplegangers/doubles; first in the dream and then in the mirror.
