I continually love reading these articles. Not just because it’s a LR, but they kindle the memories I’m making with Chrysler. The only difference is, I didn’t have to PAY for the lifetime powertrain warranty back in 2007, Chrysler was giving them away. THIS folks is why I think they went into bankruptcy.

Looks like you’re in the minority, along with the author of this thread.

Bingo.

Uhh, the interior materials on the Pontiac were no better than those in the Camaro. It was all the same Little Tikes/Rubbermaid quality.

FYI, the Camaro was about 3,400 - 3,500 pounds (mine was 3,460 pounds), the Trans Am was about 200 - 300 pounds more. This is the coupes. Convertibles were pushing 3,900 pounds.

I dunno, I love my joke of a GTO as much as I did my F-Body...

The best live rear axle setup they could make?

Yea, but one thing needs to be addressed before it becomes a really good drag car. That damn 10-bolt S-10 rear end.

I approve.

But need a tune-up by someone with a PhD after a stroll around the block!

There was another swing out one from the center console (just under the radio), in the Camaro, and I believe the back of the console had two for the rear occupants.

Uhh, there were the same engine and drivetrain, so as you mod them, both will respond fairly equally (within certain degree of tolerance), and be equally as quick/fast. Both enjoy the exact same aftermarket.

Regardless of depreciation, if you can afford to buy it new, you can probably afford to maintain it too. This also isn’t taking into consideration that if you’re buying a Hellcat, you’re probably somewhat a car person to begin with and somewhat mechanical, so you’re able to do a bit of work yourself effectively saving

They aren’t built on license by Chrysler. Tremec and ZF build and SUPPLY the transmissions to Chrysler. As well as to GM, ford, etc... Chrysler isn’t building this transmission in house.

My son is 9 now and has loved anything that turns a wheel. You know how I combat this? I teach him to respect it now while I have a chance, instead of sticking my head in the sand and/or ignoring it. He goes for cruises with me in my GTO. He goes for cruises with me in my STS-V. In these cruises I teach him to respect

I was just gonna say, any of us who have had GM cars with T56 transmissions, one of the first mods we do IS the skip-shift eliminator and never had to deal with CAGS again.

On point #2, What the hell does wear have to do with anything? Whenever you start the engine of anything it “wears”. Does it matter whether it has 200hp? Or 700hp? As long as it’s properly maintained this should be irrelevant.

How is it “impractical”, especially in 4 doors? You don’t need to unleash 700hp at every stoplight? Yet it still can be driven nicely, used to shuttle the kids to school, drive to work, etc... Then on the weekend, you can go postal on some back-road out of the mass populous of the Chicago area like I do here with

You don’t think that the aftermarket for the current GenV GM small block can easily surpass that? For a fraction of the cost of doing the same to an M5?
