Boy this has been a real roller coaster

Texas just Texassing as usual.

That 2 sides bs tells you all you need to know about mayor Whatsit.

“He’s [been] here 20-some years. I mean, come on, he’s never abused anybody. There’s two sides to every story, also.”

Yeah, he’s never abused anybody.... unless you count the video tape of him verbally abusing somebody, or if you believe the complaints of repeated abuse coming from the community. But sure, if you don’t believe either evidence or testimony, then he has never abused anyone.

That’s a ridiculous abuse of power. Now way a 3 day suspension is sufficient.

On another site, white people were defending this mess, showing that it breaks down to a perception of (unearned) entitlement, a universal agreement that they should always supersede non white people by any means necessary. That woman and her child are lucky to be alive.

I mean, come on, [we’ve never had to admit that] he’s … abused anybody.”

Hey mayor lady defending the gross abuse of authority, what’s his “side” of using his position and his lights to jump line at a pharmacy ahead of a woman with a child in the car? Hmmmm... hopefully the good citizens of Homestead will vote you out and the next mayor can fire his ass.

It is horrendous to try to imagine the thousands of people doing time who are innocent, committed some petty economic related offense or had weed charges. Even when someone is set free, those responsible for enslaving them are NOT held accountable. Nothing about the current iteration of the carceral state will ever be

So he spend 23 years in prison before he was exonerated. 2 million for 23 years is almost 87,000 for each year in jail. What a paltry sum in exchange for the prime years of a person life.

“But when have we ever known DAs to negotiate in good faith with BIPOC?”

Using the same weapon constantly?

2 MIL for 23 years is kinda of bullshit

Mr. Robert Jones is getting about $87,000 per year, which seems a bit low for taking a third of his life. I have three problems with these exoneration cases, as there needs to be prosecution for abuse of power by the prosecutors & police, the settlements often are a joke, and for every person exonerated there are

It drives me insane sometimes. Most AI is based on taking decades+ of human written stuff and using it form a decision faster than people can. Which means that decades of human bias is literally being programed into a lot of AIs. Amazon had to shut down their AI resume filter because they couldn’t make it stop being

But tRump would never have upheld the deal, silly.  His defenders, with his acting Secretary of Defense taking the lead, say tRump would NEVER have actually done what he said he would do.  Which means what for our standing in the world exactly?  Liars gonna lie, count on it.

But after the 11:46 p.m. alert came in, a ShotSpotter analyst manually overrode the algorithms and “reclassified” the sound as a gunshot.”

This has nothing to do with the tech - the police fabricated evidence and coerced the company into complying with it and the Prosecutor likely knew about the falsification or willfully failed to perform due diligence to find out.

There was no “human error” in this case. Humans deliberately changed both the classification of the sound and the location. These are the only two things the system is supposed to detect and they changed them both to frame the easiest bystander.
