All the other foods are pretty smell neutral, but cranberry sauce is all AUTUMN SPICES IN YOUR FACE. And it’s easy, so I don’t mind making it. Plus, it is the necessary ingredient in making turkey leftovers. So that’s my go-to, though I make a tart cherry/cranberry mashup that I prefer to the sweeter stuff.

I’ve gotten

I’m holding out for a version of Pretty in Pink either a) entirely about Iona or b) about Sam and Iona running off together.

Ma Dong-seok (Don Lee)‘s best performances have been in television, in which he’s shined as the muscle who occasionally shows surprising depth. He was GREAT in Shut Up Flower Boy Band, a moving kdrama in which he plays a tough, villainous teacher who follows the titular rough-and-tumble band to their new richie-rich

My annual turkey has gotten smaller and smaller every year and is now just a totem for the traditionalists.

I watch Home for the Holidays and The Family Stone (a worse movie, but one in which the featured family is EXACTLY like mine) every year around Thanksgiving. Great fucked-up family holiday movies.

I got lucky repurposing an old red ninja costume. I also just found this on amazon ($6 shipping to me by wednesday), which is about to become the mask, plus a DIY forehead piece for the symbol.

I prefer the 1997 Reply installment. Park Bo Gum is adorable, but Seo In Guk is so charismatic and funny.

I’m seeing this much later, but I regularly make coffee cocktail from coffee concentrate (I use cold brew or aeropress coffee, but espresso would work) + tonic or soda. Personally I prefer tonic (and I usually add a bit of lemon juice to make it more cocktail-like), but the coffee sodas are also very good, just more

I’ll give that a try! I can def. see how that might work.

But then, I’m a boring middle aged white lady, and _I_ knew about R. Kelly because of Chappelle since however long that’s been. I have no sympathy for Gaga or Hudson because he never should have been on those records in the first place. Don’t work with rapist pedophiles, maybe!

I’d say it’s closest to Campari. It’s very drinkable on its own, but tastes liek what it is, bitter/sweet italian soda. Which is to say, it’s not a mocktail on its own, but does have sort of a cute/special/interesting vibe that is appropriate for non-drinkers in a drinking setting. It is a bit expensive for what it is

I would absolutely take that kohlrabi off your hands. They’re impossible to find and they make the best veg noodles.

Most of these are only barely palatable and require a lot of fixing to make good, especially for those who like high-alc content cocktails (Manhattans, martinis) or cocktails that aren’t too sugary. I’ve given up entirely on the former and I only occasionally like the latter.

That whole cast is just tripping over themselves with talent and perfection. It’s almost unfair how easy they make it all look.

Pieces of April could be a prequel to Home for the Holidays.

Kind of surprised Liar Game isn’t on here. It’s not a death match game, but is psychologically terrifying. The Japanese original was about an innocent who gets sucked into an underground game to win a bunch of money through psychological manipulation.

This is me too, so if I’m not hosting but want to be helpful, I’ll say, I’m making a round of [drink that people tend to like], anyone want one?” or just make a round if it’s early on when I can easily eyeball the number of people who aren’t already drinking something else, divided by like a half.

Love it.

In a pinch, when being introduced, “would you rather” is usually good for a little ice breaker (though it’s transparent, usually other people like it).

Soup is the fall/winter breakfast champ IMO. Keeps in the fridge for days, full of veg, and warming and filling. I like doengjjang jigae (Korean miso soup with potatoes and squash) or kimchi soup for a bit of a wakeup.
