That was exactly my problem. It was like they brought in a hack writer to give everyone a happy ending and ended up betraying the show, the characters and the fans. I’d be more bitter about it but the show had already been in decline since returning from its extended hiatus (and the fact it was, well, television.)

Yes! This was exactly my thought as well. I love the western styles as well, but Asian is easily my favorite style of cuisine. Miso broth is an excellent example as an alternative as is a ginger teriyaki. God I love fresh ginger.

I suppose it was groundbreaking in the 90s to have a movie where a kid with HIV date rapes a girl, but the movie was basic moralizing disguised as gritty nihilism. Season five was ROUGH, although if it finally moves the public consciousness towards "actually, Diana wasn't that interesting to begin with and was just as navel-gazing as the lot of them" it's doing a public service.
