Biden should have put on the Katie Porter interview with Desus and Mero and just basically imitated it word-for-word. She hit just the right balance of “yes I’m a corny white lady” but funny and woke. That interview should be mandatory prep for every white Dem candidate.

Only in America would a rich beautiful accomplished woman think that dating Jack Nickolson is the fantasy.

Yup.

Seriously. I’m nice about it a few times because we all make mistakes, but if I’ve already had the conversation a few times, then clearly they’ve just decided to believe something insane. My close friends are solid, but Ive unfriended a fair number of acquaintences, because who needs to help spread lies that are going

Only sort of related, if your kid is having social problems (especially social problems related to ADHD or asp), Everyday Speech is a tool some schools use to help kids learn social-emotional rules. They have a COVID sale right now that makes it very affordable.

I liked Overtone, but found that the color didn’t stay as long as I wanted. I switched to Iroiro (on Amazon), which seems to last longer, is cheaper, works as well, and ships faster/is not sold out to the extent Overtone is.

I needed this today. This video is a fucking intelligence/charm offensive from all three. I love it.

I’m in the process of writing a book about afterschooling, which is homeschooling when your kid also attends regular school. Some of it might be pertinent for keeping your kid in learning mode over the summer to make up for a light schoolyear.

Seriously. I started watching k-drama for the “look at this dude’s hot body!” and “hey guess what, middle aged women exist and even do stuff sometimes!” and I stayed for the “UNIONIZE” and “DEBT IS A RACKET” and “HONOR IS FOR THE RICH” and “IGNORE YOUR SUPPORT STAFF AT YOUR PERIL.”

What?

I read recently that the character Biff Tannen (from Back to the Future) was based on Donald Trump.

Try experimenting with different meal times. My kids eat all morning: breakfast at 6:30 or so when they wake, a nosh at 8:30, snack at 10 (which I’ve made into a small meal by giving them some version of a mini burrito, usually an onigiri), lunch at like 11 or 11:30.

You’re absolutely right. But I’m pretty strict as a parent in a lot of ways, so I tend to give in a little when it comes to trickster characters, so long as they’re clever. My kids are also giant fans of Calvin & Hobbes.

My kids have a couple of 80s favorites: Ferris Bueller is by far their favorite movie, but they also loved Stand By Me and BTTF.

Oh man. Speaking of the blues and Ghost World.

I said exactly the same thing. Brit and Mary shouldn’t even be in the same sentence, not even this one.

Yeah, but cleanup. Seriously. It may seem stupid, but I like the Keurig no-cleanup thing, and the Aeropress is the closest competitor in that arena. 1 minute to make coffee and flip the disk of grinds into your compost in no time at all. I haven’t made pour-over, but French press takes 4 minutes to make, and standard

The only upside to Keurig: easy clean, single-serve, fast coffee.
