Honestly, I think a slightly smaller clamshell Switch could work, and even still have removable Joy-cons. It would be bigger than a 3DS, but I think it’s feasible. They would just need to make the Joy-cons slide off downward instead of upward.

I feel like there’s space for a smaller, portable-only Switch without removable Joycons once the 3DS is off the slate.
