Who cares if I’m cheating in my *single player only* game version? Who am I going to affect, beyond myself?

If only the game had something called an offline mode. Which would enable you to play without having a constant internet connection. Like all games used to have at some point.
It’s true. The ladder reset is the whole point.
While that’s good news, the situation overall is an unfortunate but familiar risk for any always-online game
There is an entire ocean between Dragon Quest and modern action games. It’s not an either/or system. Even 90's Final Fantasy games were doing a lot of things that Dragon Quest still doesn’t do to this day.
There were always turn-based traditionalists who simply refuse to join us in the new millennium.
I love VIIR’s combat and have really hoped that it extends beyond that trilogy into the rest of the series...but unfortunately, that very rarely happens (RIP to my homies the Gambit and Junction systems). It’s interesting to have the designers bend over backwards to say ‘WE’RE TELLING A GROUNDED AND MATURE STORY IN A…
nah Remake’s combat imo is the perfect synthesis of old school RPG mechanics plus modern innovation. I hope future games expand on THAT system
“Give me a proper, useful dodge please.”
I played through FFVII:R and enjoyed the combat quite a bit. Then I played through it again on hard and was absolutely blown away by the depth and fun and how much there actually was to optimize.
“Also, I’m okay with ditching a lot of these new RPG staples in ARPGs. I do not need or want to worry about equipping armor that has 1.5% critical damage to increase to donkeys but -3% vitality when looking at grass or whatever.”
“Then Final Fantasy might as well be Dragon Quest!”
Have people soured on Final Fantasy VII: Remake’s combat? Because like, I am in the middle of replaying it, and I’d like more, please. Just finished the main game and am starting the Yuffie episode, and the Synergize and other minor quality of life fixes make me think that system has legs. Their upgrade system is...is…
I really don’t like how uninvolved the party members are
That chocobo death warble haunts me for YEARS.
You mean XIII and XIII-2. XV was not better than XII and VIII was a mess
Granted that I am a curmudgeonly old fart, but I love my FF games for the aesthetics and wacky found-family team dynamics that, while they may have the occasional edgelord, are not above also having animals, stuffed animals, yeti, mysterious mimes, or even goofy underwater-soccer players. FFXV’s “What if instead of…
Although I love Chocobo as well, don’t forget that they have been enemies in multiple titles like 12 and tactics, one of which is another high point in the whole series.
But XIII is ATB too.
The good(ish) thing for us is that we’ll always have those games to go back to, we just won’t get any new mainline FF games that really appeal to us anymore.
I’m also not digging the tonal shift to dark fantasy grim gloom and doom that the game seems to have. Yeah it might not be as nihilistic as GoT was but I play…
