Someone I knew vaguely from my neighborhood and haven’t seen in a decade re-posted an anti flu-shot with all sorts of vague and ominous claims. When some people pointed out they were BS she got all sort s of cranky saying, “I’m not trying to start a debate. I just want to educate people!” (i.e. “I openly refuse to

“Anyone who knows me/my work knows that I would never say/do anything like that...”

Martin Sheen.

Sounds familiar, but I can’t find it on Wikipedia (which is as far as I’m willing to bother).

I believe that girlfriend was also a producer on his show.

I’d always pictured him looking kinda like Richard Schiff with a full beard.

It nearly killed my friend’s sister because the doctors* in the ER said she just had the flu and no one gets scarlet fever anymore. My friend’s mother kept saying “No, this is scarlet fever!” until they got a much older doctor who glanced at my friend’s sister and confirmed that yes it was scarlet fever.

New cereal idea?

RPF is totally real. It is probably why I got almost no inappropriate comment or attempts at touching me when I was pregnant. Her scowl seems to carry more weight either intentional or medical. Either way, she really doesn’t want to be there.

Holy shit! I do this with menus! I do it especially when I’m stressed. While this includes high-end places I’d never afford (nor would they cater to my vegetarianism) but chain crap, like Appleby’s. Online menus with calorie counts are even better so I can chastise myself approrpiately for my love of things that are

Yes! The compliments! So many compliments! I had a BMI that put me well into the “underweight” range but no one seemed to notice that. When you’ve spent your life until that point being told people are “concerned for your health*”, being complimented on your skinniness is like a drug.

Yup. It wasn’t a social experience for me but it certainly was socially-influenced for me. Being around people with disordered eating can spread it. It still infuriates me how many people (ranging from close family to near-strangers) felt they could make comments about my weight when they thought I was too heavy but

Someone at Netflix just “got saved” and want everyone else to join in before the sheen wears off and they go back to their previous life.

Thanks to the ubiquity of theknot.com, their wedding registry showed up pretty high in a Google search. They registered for a ton of snack food including gum. Who the fuck registers for gum? You know what brand it was? Pur. I wonder why they like it so much...

The not crowding is important. Just because a wok kinda looks like a big bowl, does not mean you should fill it like a big bowl. It is curved for more surface area in limited space and less heat loss.

I went to school with a lot of Chinese kids and some definitely had a special burner that was possibly a violation of residential housing codes but got hot enough for good stir frying.

She’ll drink it before she can pass it on? I dunno. You can send me wine all day long.

I was wondering that too!

This has not been my experience at all. Among my hetero couple friends, it was always the guy pushing for a bigger, fancier event.

Having nutso and/or super critical family can be really liberating in wedding planning. You know that whatever you do will be the “wrong” thing, so just do what you want.
