I really need to get to Scotland (for multiple reasons including Scotch whiskey and tablet). Littering really bothers me. My mother is a secondary school teacher and at her school, they have to put garbage cans on the lunch tables because otherwise the students would just drop their trash on the ground. They’re no

You never know. Maybe it was IUI or IVF.

He agreed to sell the business in January as part of his begging for a job with Trump. Ironically, his choice of firm to sell to (a Chinese firm with big holdings in Deutsche Bank and Hilton) is causing all sorts of regulatory reviews and so it hasn’t been approved.

It might not be all women, but it is definitely very common. Both my OB and the pregnancy support services through my health insurance did a DV screening as part of their intakes.

I think she’s doing what Melania couldn’t (probably due to awful prenup). When she married this a-hole, it was with the understanding that he would be a horrible person but provide her with the comfy Long Island housewife life that she wanted. Then, he goes and shoots it all to hell in his campaign to get a WH job

Seriously. On the one hand, the couple was actively advocating against joining ISIS but they were also still talking about how they still wanted to live in a society where everyone was Muslim to their standards. When asked why they left Tunisia, it was because they don’t want to see women with their hair uncovered or

I’ve also noticed that most of the people who do this are people who are privileged and comfortable enough to sit around and demand 100% change rather than incremental improvements.

Thank you! These were all things that immediately popped into my head when reading the article. Glad to hear it wasn’t me being paranoid.

Yup. That was the year I was unemployed when friends of mine had various accomplishments including: became a staff writer for Vogue, got a circuit court clerkship (a huge deal and we graduated different law schools the same year), and was on the cover of Spin.

Yes! They positioned themselves as “women focused” but the news was just the headlines from anywhere. Their idea of making the news women was vapid stereotypes about what women are interested in or understand, which I found insulting.

I’m confused why someone who is a news junkie would choose the Skimm. They cover only the really big stories. It isn’t as if they’re covering any sort of niche area, particularly since they don’t do any of their own journalism. You can usually get all of these headlines just looking at the CNN homepage.

This is why I can’t talk politics with friends of mine, even though we agree on most *issues*. They scream and shout about a politician they previously liked as “complete evil” because they voted in favor of a bill that didn’t cover 100% of what this person wanted. Not only must the politician agree with this person

They took a fluffy tone when discussing a disaster in which many people died. That was when I finally unsubscribed. I’d already been ignoring a lot of their headlines because I felt dumber for having read them, but that was the last straw. IIRC, it was when the plane was shot down over Ukraine.

To be fair, this place also sells a lot of cream cheese-centric snacks and baked goods that look mighty tasty. Not stuff I could eat regularly, but fun treats I’d be excited about if someone brought them into the office:

I have no idea who these people are but why is everyone having their damn babies and mine just wants to spend his time headbutting my pelvis and kicking me? I happen to know a bunch of women due the same time as me and they are all having their babies early. It simply isn’t fair, especially when it is 90 degrees

I don’t blame them but the responses to questions of conflation of all Jews with the Israeli government seem to rely entirely on “this is the theory upon which we operate” and ending there. Perhaps there have been other responses/statements where they have more extensive, but I haven’t seen them.

Theoretically, what you have said is true but BDS has also attracted plenty of people who conflate all Jews with the Israeli government and/or see the only opinions on Israel/Palestine as BDS or unquestioning support. These people feel that the righteousness of their cause gives them license to harass or sometimes

Yeah. I’m looking forward to raiding their section for kiddos.

Yeah. I was looking for something more...something.

Baby furniture is one place I’ve been underwhelmed by their offerings, despite my favoring of Scandanavian minimalism in general. The kid stuff looks ok, but the baby stuff felt kinda flimsy and more institutional than minimalist. I was able to work the local moms group on FB to furnish my nursery because Babies R Us
