If I recall, her take was far more expansive than just “No good tacos in Boston.” Rather, “Boston is a Food Wasteland.”

How hard is it to put something delicious in a tortilla, and why does she think it’s so impossible to do in Boston?

She also said NYC doesn’t have good Mexican either. I think what she meant is no good Mexican for a person with the palette of a white girl from the Midwest.

Friends from grad school that went to Boston schools for undergrad assure me there is only garbage Mexican food in Boston. Remember that Puerto Ricans, Cubans, and Dominicans are not Mexicans and have different foods than Mexicans. As for other Central Americans, also not Mexican. 

LBJ is great call. When he was a teacher his school was largely Mexican-American. Also Grant, Polk and Taylor all part of the Army during the Mexican-American War.
