@lostarchitect: Just did my reading... def. haven't had it prepared right.

All the absinthe I've had tasted pretty nasty. Like bad anise candy with an inordinate amount of alcohol. So what if it was trendy amongst European artists 140 years ago - for $65 I can get some whiskey that's decent enough to require whiskey stones!

@blyan is nominal too?: No matter how hard people try to frame it otherwise, there is some overlap in these discussions.

@Celtic1888: Governments cannot be completely transparent in a complex global setting. Government secrecy should be thought of as controlled by a dimmer, not an on/off switch. Currently, the dimmer is turned up too high (and it will be turned up higher as a result of wikileaks), but there's no reason to turn it

@blyan-reloaded: When ego motivates decisions that resonate globally, ego needs to be addressed in a critique of those decisions. One can assess motivation, something which is important when considering current events and historical issues, without resorting to ad hominem.

I am by no means a fan of overly secretive governments, but I also understand that governments do need to operate with some secrecy. Any argument in support of an entity that indiscriminately releases all government secrets it can get its hands on with no accountability is going to need to be a little more nuanced

@lpranal: The rear ball in the first one is actually larger than the one in the foreground.

I appreciate the total about face Jesus has made, but his continued confusion with why people were upset with his original post is still a bit disturbing. Jesus: most people here were not accusing Mr. Assange of the crime, they were ticked off at your refusal that the alleged crime didn't constitute rape.

@Decad3nce: You must be missing something then. The people, in your words, "crying rape", are doing so about the allegations. They are not saying that they know, for a fact, that Mr. Assange committed rape. In other words, the the article contests that the alleged crimes do not consitute rape, and the people arguing

@Platypus Man: sex without consent is rape. There are no fuzzy lines or gray areas, and force is certainly not required.

@Decad3nce: "According to the New York Times, friends of the woman say that he did not comply with her appeals to stop unless he wore a condom."

If a prospective partner says "i will have sex with you so long as you use protection" and during intercourse I knowingly fail to replace a broken condom or remove the condom myself, i have gone outside the bounds of the given conset and have engaged in unconsetual sex.

@Platypus Man: If consent is exclussive to the condition of full protection through the span of intercourse, consent is removed as soon as the condom is. Did you not know the details when you posted or is there something about this ratehr uncomplicated issue of consent that's difficult to understand?

Assange is "suspected of rape, sexual molestation and unlawful coercion". The reporting is accurate in calling the alleged crime "rape". By the Swedish legal definition, if sex is consented to with the condition of protection, once the protection is removed or broken protection is willfully ignored, consent is no

@wætherman: SS vaccuum carafes. Even some of the more mainstream manufactures are starting to incorporate them into their drip brew machines. I have a great model from Zojirushi.

@jesbelle: Good point. I always forget that chemex filters are pretty pricey.
